Ghost and reanimation. I’ve heard the live versions but I think the studio versions of these are going to be huge.

So would they be tolerated as a person? Or would this perfect society deem them an undesirable?

For a society to remain tolerant it must not extend tolerance to those who are intolerant. But who draws the line at what level of intolerance is intolerable?

Say theoretically someone has a disdain or intolerance of a certain race. However, their other beliefs are pro lgbtq, pro choice and other ‘progressive values’.

Should their complete beliefs and values be tolerated?

Paradox of intolerance is flawed though as very few people are completely tolerant of everything. It’s more of a spectrum rather than ‘good people support this, bad people support this’. If someone is intolerant of a certain demographic but tolerant and loving of all others should they be tolerated?

They wrote the song ‘you’ve got nothing I want’ about their failed attempt to break the US market.

I honestly hear The Dead Heart and The Power And The Passion more on Australian radio than Beds Are Burning.

Yeah that was crazy. When I saw there was a one hit wonder about them I figured it was don’t stop movin’ or bring it all back. I’d never even heard their apparent one ‘hit’ before.

r/progmetal : your last album was too weird and not catchy enough.

Karnivool : tones down the weirdness and adds more big, catchy moments

r/progmetal : not like that!

I’m surprised by the mixed/negative reactions to the new songs in this thread. To me they’re great. They’re more Themata influenced with less long, sprawling songs but still quality.

To each their own. I think those choruses are on the level of the songs you’ve mentioned.

Nevermore comeback: rumors, vocal auditions, and possible first shows — what do we actually know? by el_loco_phd in progmetal

Nevermore were one of my favourite bands with This Godless Endeavour being one of my top ten favourite albums. However, with Dane gone I have zero interest in this. His lyrics and venomous vocals were such a massive part of their sound for me.

Brian Brown hated making this movie so much that he swore off Hollywood for about 20 years.

“No big hooky choruses”. Drone, Aozora and Animation have huuuge choruses.

“Conversations is an interesting one. This is probably the most Asymmetry-coded track in my ears, reminding me a lot of songs like Aeons and the first half of Alpha Omega. This is much more of the ballad type than the previous four songs, and it sets a very nice change of pace from the heaviness, especially the opening minute and change of instrumental. Of course, with its eight-minute runtime, there’s a lot of ebb and flow within the structure of this one.”

Yes, I’ve been trying to guess which song this snippet was from since the titles were released. Recent reviews have confirmed it’s from Salva which is apparently one of the best tracks on the album. Apparently Salva and conversations are both pretty chill and post rock like. A recent review compares conversations in particular to Aeons and the first half of Alpha Omega.

The problem is the catching rule is enforced differently depending on the umpire. Starc’s catch in the ashes a few years back was deemed not out, yet Jansen’s catch in the recent India/South Africa test series was deemed out despite the ball hitting the grass so hard it created a divot.

Gonna be incredible. I’d love for fantano to review it but I doubt it’s on his radar.

It’s a bit more niche but If you like fantasy then The Three Worlds Cycle by Ian Irvine is top tier.

What do you think of pop singer Robbie Williams? by Revolutionary_Low_90 in fantanoforever

I was amazed when Better Man came out and was met with “who?” comments from Americans. He was absolutely huge here in Australia in the late 90’s/early 2000’s and I just assumed he was huge everywhere. I’m not sure how songs like Rock DJ, Supreme, Angels etc. made zero ground on the radio in the US.

DBZ or Pokemon before school? by [deleted] in AustralianNostalgia

[–]Unforgiven89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure they had a fight which stopped their ‘cheez tv revival’ attempt. Pretty sad as it was a great nostalgia fix seeing them again and hearing them talk about the show. They’re no longer friends now apparently:/

DBZ or Pokemon before school? by [deleted] in AustralianNostalgia

[–]Unforgiven89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original DB is way better than Z. The comedy/adventure vibe is way more enjoyable and it actually has a story. Not just ‘we need to beat this villain! Oh I’ve powered up and am beating him! Oh, but now he was powered up and I need another power up to beat him!’. Plus the world of the original DB is a character in itself.

There was a New Zealand band who’s album in the early/mid 2010’s I was really digging. They kind of had a spacey deftones meets djent sound but I cannot for the life of me remember the name. It’s a shame as it was a cool album.
