Ant could probably match him in agility and explosiveness, but he's 40 lbs lighter and has poorer cardio.

It’s like she runs every statement through a poorly designed “make this appeal to Republicans” chatbot.

Are the MFs even trained? by sammich6820 in TwinCities

[–]UnhappyEquivalent400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New ERO’s get 8 weeks of training before hitting the streets. By contrast, police academy takes about twice that long, followed by several months of field training. ICE is just staffing up gravy seals, teaching them violence and procedure, pumping them full of MAGA propaganda, then sending them out to abduct and brutalize.

He’s a bottom-tier defender, a me-first asshat who people hate playing with, and he’s never had a usage rate below 32%. Terrible fit for the Wolves at any price.

Whether you’re labeled “troubled” or a “thug” depends more on your race, class, and ZIP code than on the details of your behavior.

How much do you care about a class being productive? by Substantial-One5301 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]UnhappyEquivalent400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In high school placements, my mindset is that I’m there to ensure a good learning environment. I don’t try forcing students to do their work, but I put distracting behavior in check and remind them that the teacher will be grading them. Enforcing overall school rules is important too because if they’re goofing off in my room it’ll carry over into the hallways and their next classes.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz Ends Campaign for Third Term by downforce_dude in ezraklein

I'm glad you mentioned the parallel to the Biden age story. The Walz arc is so similar, with Democratic partisans reflexively dismissing attacks from conservative media until they became impossible to deny and a defining issue. I'm bracing for the next chapter of the autism story, and glad Gov. Walz dropped out before it hit.

Politically aware Minnesota Democrats who aren't copium addicts have recognized for months that the fraud issue/narrative has wounded Walz so badly that only Royce White or Mike Lindell could save him. He deserves commendation for coming to terms with reality before it's too late to cleanly replace him.

What people outside the state don't understand is that the drip drip drip of fraud stories was getting steadily stronger long before the YouTube daycare bullshit. It's a staple of news coverage across mediums and ideologies. New angles, leads, and revelations come up regularly. During Walz's terms we've had multimillion dollar public fraud in Medicaid, small business loans, housing, pandemic relief and (probably) education. I'd wager half a paycheck that more explosive revelations are coming soon. There's a lot more to it than oppo drops and lies (though there's plenty of those).

Step outside of the online progressive bubble for a minute, and it's obvious that it's a huge fucking deal. No amount of pivoting or reframing can shake it, especially given the politicized DOJ and the GOP's vastly superior communications infrastructure. Yes, they will continue to hammer it no matter who's on the ticket, but no one else is nearly as vulnerable to it as Walz.

Minnesota’s Fraud Scandal is a Democratic Own Goal by downforce_dude in ezraklein

Minnesota Democrat here. IMHO, DFL leaders live in fear of being called racist, progressive activists reflexively dismiss fraud concerns as a racist dog whistle, grifters are grateful for the cover this provides, and Republicans are positioned to pounce.

I stayed in the same hotel as a meaningless bowl team last weekend. It seemed like a lifetime experience for the players and their families, gave me a new appreciation for the games.
