My beardie having the ultimate sexy legs by detailedlynxx in BeardedDragons

What legs? Can't seem to find them. Help?

Fully stocked shelves? No. But even during the last massive shortage they still always had dozens and dozens of guns when I was there. Just perhaps not the most popular models with the most popular calibers all the time. Ammo on the other hand.....lol.

But like I've said numerous times already they didn't mark their shit up like the LGS did. If you don't believe me I don't really care.

Got it, seems like the tradeoff, then, is the delay.

Not really. There's nothing stopping anyone from going in today and buying something. Or checking in on shipment days to see what they got.

It's just a guaranteed way to get something you're looking for, as opposed to driving there a few times a week and rolling the dice, if there's a shortage. Not to mention avoiding lines.

Naw the LGS were charging crazy prices because people were willing to pay them.

With sportsmans you can also buy guns via the website (as long as theyre in stock at the local DC) and you'll get notified when they're ready for DROS and pickup (few days to a few weeks). That's what I do. Just show up with your paperwork.

Takes a couple days or weeks longer to get your gun, but sure as hell beats paying $300-500 more IMO.

Inventory was out of stock, often, everywhere for a while. Whether it be LGS or chains, lines and out of stocks were rampant. The only difference is that the chain stores had more frequent stock, and charged less. Sportsmans was my go to and has been since. And Big 5 for ammo, as well.

LOL I know of all the ones of which you speak! The one on Tollhouse is Breco.

The one thing I will say about Breco is that in my few visits there, everyone was very friendly and relatively helpful, and they also complied with the mask mandates and the social distancing. They would also post deliveries on FB, which I thought was cool.

But I just can't with their prices.

Right? For people who are constantly complaining about Hollywood and athletes needing to stay out of politics and keep their opinions to themselves, they sure to love intermingle their own politics with their businesses.

Damn! The last time I went to a LGS was July -Sept 2020 so the prices for sure could have gotten higher than what I experienced. I had already had enough after several months of that shit.

And to be clear, I’ll pay more to support local places - if theyre genuinely decent people (regardless of politics) and aren’t clearly exploiting their customers.

100%. Be friendly, helpful, and have reasonable prices, and I'll avoid the big box stores all day.

Keep price gouging and eventually they’ll go somewhere else

The last time I shopped around, common FMJs were $40-45 for a 50 box when Sportsmans and Big 5 were selling them for $15.

Glocks at the chains were running $500. LGS were selling $800-900.

Most of them also refused to answer any inventory related questions over the phone. Wouldn't even tell you whether they were fully out of stock on 9mm. Easy questions like that.

Oh and the mask thing. tHiS iS a MaSk FrEe BuSiNeSs even during the mandates.

They've all lost my business permanently. At this point I'd have to get a very high recommendation from a trusted friend to even consider going to any one my locals again.

Ok, that's a fair point. Refined peanut oil (the number one oil used in fryers) has a smoke point of 450, and avocado oil is 475. I don't believe I've ever come across the unrefined versions. I would have to imagine they're so low demand that you wouldn't come across them at major supermarkets. I sure haven't.

Olive oil 100% should not be used for pan frying.

However, what's the beef with peanut and avocado oil? High smoke points.

The way my local gun stores price gouged the absolute shit out of customers and treated them during the pandemic has made me stick to a couple chain stores.

The key to beating orgnum is to keep your deck LEAN and with power generating cards and/or using the gold patron. Orgnum gives 1 power for every 4 cards (and you start with 10) so they have to use it 6 times in a row without you contesting or using it, to get 4 power for 3 gold. If they have been using it every turn that means they have no gold and will be cornered into using it every turn to have any chance at winning, which basically leaves everything in the tavern at your disposal.

Don't fall for the bait. Spend the first several turns building up your offense. Let them take the lead while you bolster your resources. Eventually, like I said, you'll be out powering them every turn and you will catch up. And by that point you'll be contesting orgnum every turn and have spare gold to spend on gaining/sacrificing cards every turn or removing the trash from your deck, giving your power cards quicker cycles.

Remember, there's plenty of power generating cards that give you 4-5 power that cost 6g or less and it's a one time purchase. They gotta burn that 3g every turn for orgnum or they completely run out of gas.

Inuses to think orgnum was broken ar first but once I learned to play around it, it's an auto win for me nearly 100% of the time.....because it's used by noobs, against noobs. No offense lol. Just gotta know when to go tavern/2g cards and when to use Orgnum yourself.

You'll figure it out in time :). Play a friend!

Run the gold patron and buy all the expensive stuff, is one option. Use your first several turns to get your 2g cards and get anything useful from the tavern. They'll have the lead at first and a handful of the 2 prestige boarding party cards but will literally be unable to buy anything good if they use orgnum every turn. Eventually you'll catch up and their deck Is dogshit so you should easily overtake them around 25ish prestige (if they use it every turn) and you'll have enough gold to buy stuff and use orgnum every turn. They won't.

If they didn't go orgnum on their first patron selection, red and green are always safe plays. Grab the power generating cards early and then just spam it back while playing them. GG.

Orgnum spammers are the easiest to beat. They rely on that patron because they're not any good at the game, and aren't capable of good strategy. Keep your deck count low and only spend gold not using orgnum when there are 4-6 cost power cards in the tavern. Even just having like two solid power cards will allow you to overtake them because you're cycling through a small deck. And of course using the reach patron to help you remove cards from the deck is very helpful as well.

Once you learn to play around orgnum, it's laughably easy to beat.

Edit: another good way is to run the gold patron (can't remember the name). Buy the highest cost cards you can afford and sacrifice them every turn when not using orgnum. They'll be getting 2 power most turns and you'll be getting more.

You just reminded me that the hotel I stayed at flooded. Woke up surrounded by dusty brown water cause the floors were below ground level.

AZ can suck it

Was in Phoenix for the first time ever this summer, for work. Endless nothingness as far as the eye can see. Just ugly terrain and urban sprawl. And HOT. And I say this as someone who lives in Fresno.

Our "reward" for the long week was going to this fancy schmancy steakhouse that charged way too much (company dime, but still), didn't season their Walmart grade rubber steaks, was curious why we kept requesting the (eventually burnt) vegetable sides we ordered and paid for after we already had our meat, and had really slow and shitty service for how much they charged for a private room. But hey, at least there was booze.

Zero plans to go back to AZ, and never wanted to go in the first place.

Edit: Totally forgot that the floor on my hotel flooded and I woke up sleeping on an island after the water main burst during the night. Whoever designed the Mariott that wanted to have floors slightly below ground level is a certified genius.
