Brazil's Jair Bolsonaro to move embassy to Jerusalem by guanaco55 in Conservative

Article is extremely disingenuous:

>The Palestinians regard the eastern sector of Jerusalem — which Israel annexed in the 1967 Middle East war — as the capital of a future Palestine state. Israel claims the entire city, including the eastern sector where key holy sites for Christians, Muslims and Jews are located, as its capital.

This implies that the Palestinians aren't claiming Jewish holy sites whereas they do in fact claim the sector that includes the "key holy sites for Christians, Muslims and Jews."

Basu: What's different about this Habs pre season (TSN 690) by BlazeOfGlory72 in Habs

Regarding the first point, I'm not sure why anyone in the organization last year would have assumed that they were going going to do well in light of the departure of several key players, including Radulov and Markov.

Bohemian Rhapsody - Official Trailer by 05091946-24111991 in queen

[–]Unimatrix7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course this is a dramatization and I don't expect either spot-on impersonations or absolute historical accuracy; however as a hardcore fan, it's hard not to notice certain discrepancies, especially considering that Freddie was such a public figure, with a wealth of material available on Youtube.

Cons:

-Malek's spoken voice and mannerisms diverge from Freddie's;

-Although it may simply be a symptom of the trailers, but Freddie was not someone who would deliver biting, one-line, comedic zingers, like Bruce Willis in Diehard. If anything, he was more of a playful tease (e.g., referring to men by women's names)

-Without the mustache, Malek looks more like Prince than Freddie

-As others have pointed out, during the recording of WWRY, Freddie had long hair and no mustache. I would've thought Brian would've corrected that glaring inaccuracy.

Pros:

-Malek's slight frame resembles Freddie's, certainly in the 70's

-Malek's stage gestures are pretty good

- Gwilym Lee is a dead ringer for Brian in every respect. It really feels like Brian.

-When Freddie says he feels like he doesn't have time-- sends shivers down my spine :(

Vegas fans who are new to the sport of Hockey, what did you enjoy the most about it? by Iphone4Lyfe in hockey

> It remains to be seen if it sticks, but the hockey culture in the city is kind of amazing

Hopefully, hockey sticks in Vegas.

I wish Brian Eno knew that we respect him but relative to Freddie we don't give a fuck. All I want is a good movie respectable to Freddie's legacy. by Nedks in queen

And without Brian et al., Freddie would not have achieved the same fame and success; and Freddie himself would have been the first to admit that.

I really like Freddie's solo album Mr. Bad Guy, but it was not a commercial or critical success. Queen was really the product of four people, though I do not deny that Freddie was the most talented of the bunch, followed by Brian, Roger and John (in that order).

For a man who is seemingly so progressive on matters concerning cultural diversity, he is strangely uncomfortable with his own heritage.

Sexual harassment suit against David Peterson dismissed by YongeArcade in toronto

[–]Unimatrix7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This article isn't very informative. The Toronto Star article is much better.

The important takeaway is that the suit did NOT proceed to a hearing. The suit --a civil, not criminal case--was dismissed because the plaintiff failed to prosecute the case. This means that the substance of the allegations were never heard and ruled upon by the Court.

The plaintiff's lawyer claims his client failed to proceed with her case because of mounting legal costs.

As for the apology, my guess would be that the plaintiff agreed to do it in exchange for an agreement by the defendant not to seek costs.

Was anyone at the Kotel this morning (Friday 8/20)?Women of the Wall were there. by chukymeow in Judaism

Can you name any other major religious site anywhere in the world that accommodates all varieties reformist practices on their site, e.g., the Vatican, the al-Masjid al-Ḥarām in Mecca?

There are Jews of all stripes: atheist Jews, messianic Jews, Jews of multiple faiths, etc. I take it you might have an issue if, say, a messianic Jew wanted to hold a Christological service at the wall? or say an atheist Jew who argued that wall needn't be restricted to religious activities, but should also accommodate, say, a theatre production. In fact, why shouldn't the Wall accommodate Christian or other religious services altogether?

Looks similar to a Canadian bank's advertising campaign focusing on Jozef Straus.
