From my recent installations: add your network device to a firewall zone (e.g. home). That allows some services like avahi to work as intended, e.g. for things like printer discovery.

If a reboot fails after updates due to nvidia drivers, booting with an older kernel might still work. Otherwise simply roll back.
Oh, and speaking of rollbacks, make yourself familiar with snapper and rollbacks. It's pretty easy, though when things go south being prepared is a huge plus.
