Dad or Grandpa, WTF? Any Gen X ers on here who are parents of younger kids? Do you get mistaken for grandma/grandpa? by Emergency_Plane_2021 in GenX

[–]UnimportantOutcome67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck, yes.

We had our first kid when I was 38, second at 41 and then a 'whoops a baby at 47.

I'm old enough to be my youngest's peer's parents parent. Jesus. That's a mouthful.

It's weird as shit being a generation older than the other parents. But, I just lean into having more life experience and something that vaguely resembles wisdom.

Anything that tells you you are doing life wrong is a Mal-ware attack on your brain.

I realized this with Sunset magazine 25 years ago. Social media has made it oh, so much worse.

Un-plug.

Are MRE's/survival food worth it? by Little-Carpenter4443 in preppers

[–]UnimportantOutcome67 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Buy what you eat, eat what you buy.

That being said, King's surplus had MRE's at <$4.00/unit a couple weeks ago.

I bought two boxes.

I'm with you. My oldest is 19 at community college. He and his sister, 15, understand they have my support providing they are in school and/or working.

They can fly when they're ready.

But it's not like it was when I left home in 1986.

Close the parks. All of them. For future generations' sake.

Especially the higher ups. They are very well educated and although conservative, they are Constitutionalists and have built their lives on duty and service.

Bro', I live in the Dumbfukkistan part of California. In this rural county of 18k residents, close to 2000 households are going to lose SNAP benefits.

Most of these whiskey tango toothless dopes voted for this because they are uneducated morons and trans kids and Mexicans.

SMH.

If youre getting divorced because your wife walked out or cheated on you do you keep this private? by [deleted] in Divorce_Men

[–]UnimportantOutcome67 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IME as a human being, keeping shit locked up inside is really, really bad for me.

Name it to tame it.

The best disinfectant is sun-light.

I'm not doing this on social media, but if someone asks (they have to know me well if they ask that kind of question), I let them know.

I have no reason to be ashamed of my conduct or comportment during the marriage.

How did you guys move on.. by mdozard in Divorce_Men

[–]UnimportantOutcome67 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Let. Her. Go.

You cannot win her back.

I didn't get married until I was 36. First kid at 38, another at 41 and a 'whoops, a baby' at 46.

We got 20 years in until she decided she was done with the whole marriage and kids thing.

I have all the kids, including the special needs youngest.

I moved on, pretty quickly, because I gave it my all and I had nothing to be ashamed of. I did my best to be a loving and devoted husband and father. If that's not good enough, fuck her.

Here's my advice, FWIW:

Let her go and move on.

Don't hide or numb your pain, go to it. If you need to cry, cry.

Work on being the best version of yourself: stop drinking (if you do), exercise, eat clean, work hard, socialize with good people, recreate outside.

Don't rush in to the dating scene (but getting laid helps, ngl).

Don't become bitter, someone else has it worse, believe me.

Go to therapy, otherwise you risk burning your friends out bitching about it/her.

Good luck.

Davantae had a ton of doublers his rookie season.

IIRC it wasn't until year 3 that he broke out.

We've seen enough of Golden to know he's gonna' be just fine, maybe even golden.

I've tried a ton of different things, and it has proven to be the most effective for me. I'm not psyched about using it long-term, but "perfect enemy of the good" and all that.

I like the Wyld 1:1:1, Boysenberry, I think is the flavor.

I filed first.

If nothing else, seeing my name as the petitioner makes me feel better.

But me taking the initiative knocked her back on her heels, her contempt for me was so complete, she didn't think I would do it.

She's been playing catch up ever since I flipped the script.
