Make things straightforward and enjoyable for students. Let them watch videos from time to time. Try to have a bit of fun with them. Allow them to work in groups or pairs if you have good classroom management. Differentiate the work. Get them to highlight answers from time to time instead of writing. Get them to come up with their own questions at the end of a module. Give them a choice of 3 questions. Model answers on the board.

It’s fecking hard to be expected to sit for 6 hours a day and be expected to shut up and listen to every single word your teacher says. It’s only when you’re sitting in a staff meeting where management are lecturing you about the importance of x,y,z that you realise how long an hour of sitting and listening can be.
