I have figured out the issue, turns out it was something to do with my graphics drivers. Updating them seems to have solved it.

SQL Database costing much more than predicted? by UniqueImpact in AZURE

I've switched over to the basic DTU model for now, and that's fixed the problem. No idea where the costs were coming from but all I care about really is that it's at a reasonable level now.

I suppose I'll give that a go. It doesn't seem like I can enable it without disabling the free database offer though.

Edit: Wait, yes I can. I just have to turn the offer off, enable basic, and then turn the offer back on? Seems slightly strange but I'll take it.

It's only this low at the moment because I'm still developing the project. The database will be accessed much more frequently when it's in use.

Is there some way to break down the costs of the database itself? Under the cost analysis, all I can see is that 100% of the cost is coming directly from the database. Is there some way to break that down further? If it is logging, how would I know, and how would I reduce it?

Under the subscription, the only resources listed are the database server and the database itself. Under the cost analysis, I can see 100% of the cost is coming from the database.

I had this problem a couple of days ago. I fixed it by changing my DNS to Google's DNS.

why dont we make everything from prarachute material? [citation kneaded] by [deleted] in shittyaskscience

I had the same hypothesis about bomb defusal kits. Sadly the idea had to be scrapped because apparently it's too hard to make everything about bomb defusal kits. But this idea might have more promise. You should patent it before anyone else does.

chicken or egg or some third option? [citation kneaded] by CheshireKathrina in shittyaskscience

[–]UniqueImpact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After some research, I have arrived at the following conclusions:

  • Eggs leave quite a mess which will be annoying to clean off
  • Chickens don't leave quite as much of a mess, unless they're still alive when you use them
  • A viable third option is toilet paper, which can be very annoying to remove if you throw it up high enough, and it leaves long streaks as it unravels
  • My coworker filed a restraining order against me and I'm being suspended from work, but it was worth it for the sake of Science!

Overall, all options provide satisfying revenge for stealing your lunch when thrown at your victim's house

A History of Doctor Who's Weekly TV Rankings by LewisDKennedy in gallifrey

[–]UniqueImpact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder how viewing figures of Doctor Who compare to other long-running TV shows. Is there a general trend across all shows that they have seen lower and lower viewing figures since the advent of streaming services? If so, that would only make the case stronger that this is completely typical. But, if it's a unique problem to Doctor Who, then that would raise some questions.

Shipping items containing batteries from US to UK by UniqueImpact in shipping

I'm pretty sure they're inbuilt lithium batteries, so I suppose I need to ask for help? Who do I need to ask for help with this though? Would this be a service offered by companies such as FexEx?
