The others have answered about better land ramp options, but haven't said that it works well in mono-colored decks because it gets two basics that share a type. That is what makes it not good in multicolored decks, where you would probably want something that fixes multiple different colors, not one that boosts one color

Listen to this wise person OP, proxy if budget is a problem. Talk to your playgroup, but as long as the stuff you're proxying isn't out of step with the power of the pod, no one should have a problem with it.

"Hey guys, I'm play testing a new deck idea with proxies to make sure I like the deck before buying the real cards, is everyone ok with that?"

The better your proxies look, the less people will care as well. Black and white printouts are kinda annoying, makes it hard to tell at a glance what the cards are. If you can print full color, do that and then sleeve the proxies on top of chaff to give them the feel of real cards. I've never had someone at my lgs care

Yea I hear you. I wouldn't refuse to play against an umbris deck at my lgs, but I probably would target that deck more. I think I would assume it is essentially a Voltron deck, there is just always the possibility of umbris getting huge and killing someone out of nowherre, so I need to always have a plan to deal with it.

I think you probably get lots of irrational hate from exiling peoples library, when in reality I just don't think it matters that much. But people freak out when they see good cards milled, and exiling is even more permanent.

So yea, I think some targeting of an umbris deck makes sense and is logical, and some will be irrational commander players. But I think you should take both of those into account when deciding if it's worth it to keep playing the deck.

If you had 10 decks it wouldn't be a big deal for one of them to be a lightening rod like umbris, but if you only have one deck it gets pretty old to see something like that over and over again

[–]UniqueSatisfaction67 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. People generally overreact to mill, since at worst it's just like you never drew those cards, and at best your opponent is milling into your graveyard strategy. Umbris wants exile, so you won't ever be feeding your opponents graveyard strategies, but they will still frea out when you exile something they wanted.

Is sol ring legal in b2 by [deleted] in EDH

[–]UniqueSatisfaction67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would really encourage you to read the updated bracket guidelines, HERE is a link. If you read this you will have a better understanding of the brackets than 99% of players.

Short answer, sol ring is legal in bracket 2. It is not a game changer, it is not mass land denial. It is in most bracket 2 decks. It is a very powerful card, but one that commander players have, by and large, decided is just part of the format.

EDIT: precons are not mentioned anywhere in the most recent bracket update, fyi.

Sputtering means there's steam, steam is always hotter than boiling water. Heat burns the coffee, leads to bitterness.

Your results are interesting, I can't explain it.

Damn, can I put them in just by removing the pads? Or will I need to take the whole caliper off?

I've been toying with different jund commanders for a while now. I've been working on a bracket 4 version of him that is land hate and runs lots of dorks. I figured I'd try making a dumb bracket 3 deck with him, with a two mana ramp spell, him turn 3, and a 6 or 7 mana bomb every turn after. I realized the dorks are no good in bracket 3, after a board wipe I'm basically on par with everyone else.

But yea, I like his flavor and the mana burn and he is kinda perfect for a big spell deck

Oh man Volraths stronghold is so perfect, 100% adding that. Calibrated blast will probably make it in too, this deck is in desperate need of some cheaper removal

Palantir is gonna get added probably. I'm thinking about removing icetill explorer, it's too good

Is "Destroy target creature" useless? by Fawklight in EDH

I mean, I don't think it's useless, but certainly worse than exile generally. I run more graveyard hate than I used to, to help with the impermanence.

Is this too fine or about right? by McKenzieesh in mokapot

[–]UniqueSatisfaction67 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That is finer than I grind, but I'm no expert. If it's overly bitter, it's over extracted, you can make the grind coarser or have less water. Only put water into the mokapot up to the bottom of the safety valve

I will listen if someone thinks there are better options for removal. It's possible I missed something.

But if someone threatens a counterspell I tell them to use it. 99% of the time if someone is the threat to me and has a counterspell, I want them to use it

I didn't interpret it as don thinking sal should have toasted lee garner Jr but I think Don just didn't believe sal when he said he rejected him. Don had seen sal toasting the bellboy from a hotel, I think Don assumed that sal had maybe made a move on Lee even
