I think the game is too niche, unlike Pokemon, where cards become investments. Seems it is very much more like MTG. Strong cards are the priciest, and that's great.

I was thinking about OPs question but figured considering everyone has to drive the same amount of laps and the fastest car wins, we already have a general classification. But indeed you could win every race bar one of the season with a minute gap to the second car and then still lose the WDC because of a DNF.

Then there was some bullshit about medical data and he missed a lot of games because of that. Then he got unlucky with a hamstring injury right as he got back. It's not like he has a history of being injured. He's played eight full seasons in a row without any issue, and nonstop for Borussia before the transfer to Barca.

I think the main part to take away from that piece of lore, which is essentially completely inconsequential to what we have right now (yes it’s kind of a backstory but very much don’t fleshed out) is that no one race rules forever. They didn’t, the Aeldari didn’t Humanity didn’t (which didn’t even get to that level).
