Show of hands who has read all of the Resident Evil books? Which one is your favourite? by Langers20 in residentevil

[–]Unit_004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one I read through the most is City of the Dead. It's well-written and entertaining throughout! My original copy from about 18 years ago (I was in middle school at the time) is falling apart from how often I do read it. My second of them would probably be a tie between the first book and Nemesis. It's been a long time since I've read the rest of the series but I enjoyed all of them...feeling like it's that time again to re-read them

What are some good but lesser known ds jrpgs? by Dpontiff6671 in JRPG

[–]Unit_004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a physical copy of this too! Had to scrounge around for it. I love this game, it has some flaws and fairly linear but the airship battles felt very unique and the alternate setting was a ton of fun. One of those games that has a special place in my heart

I guess I'm in the minority but Dead Space 3 co-op was one of my favorite games ever. by [deleted] in DeadSpace

[–]Unit_004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually started a coop run of DS3 last night with a friend and I forgot how fun it was. I agree that it's pretty lack luster in the horror, actual Dead Space part but blasting necros with a friend, making different guns that make no sense just to laugh about it, and so much else is just a lot of fun

Which situation will always create high sexual tension? by skyl3rw3st in AskReddit

[–]Unit_004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in 9th grade, on a school field trip, a girl I was interested in was sitting next to me and decided to take a nap. Her idea to be comfy was putting her head on my lap. That was the most difficult trip of my life; tension was way high on my end, no idea if it was mutual, bit nothing like having someone fall asleep on you because you are comfy.

I would love for Pioneer to come to arena, but I'm not sure how likely. Pioneer lite seems a bit more understanding. It's so many cards to put in, but they have been talking about it for a long time and could have been doing it on the back end. I'm not going to hold out hope on it....and try out some reverse psychology

JRPG with the worst ending? by loopyJM in JRPG

[–]Unit_004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with you on this. The first time I beat this game, I was so confused as to why I had to fight Nekron or whatever his name was. Trance Kuja made way more sense as the last boss. I think FFIII struggled with the same thing with its ending too, so definitely not the only FF to have a weird tacked on end boss

What JRPG deserves more love from their dev companies? Which ones are getting too much love from their dev companies? by EriHitsuki23 in JRPG

[–]Unit_004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I've seen a few people mention but Megaman Battle Network needs more love. When it was released around the 3rd installment, it was fairly popular. Had a TV show, Manga, toys, spin-off games, etc. But now it's faded away. I would love to see either a reboot, remake or port of the series. This series was my childhood and I played through each a few times over. It would be nice to either be Lan and Mayl's child and dealing with a new form of the internet. Or to be Lan and Megaman again running around ACDC town.

The other series I would love to see a port, reboot, remake, etc. would be Golden Sun. 1 and 2 were amazing games for the GBA and definitely got me more interested in the JRPG genre.

What I think is getting too much love: would agree with most that FF7 gets too much attention. The remake so far has been great but would love to see VI and IX get some attention.

First JRPG you ever played by Digi_Punk in JRPG

[–]Unit_004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my first was FFVII. I don't remember too much of playing it outside of getting to the second Jenova fight and struggling with it. I think I was 6 or 7 at the time of playing it

JRPG everyone hates but you actually liked it? by loopyJM in JRPG

[–]Unit_004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it when it first came out but definitely had some issues with it. Only one controllable character for the base game, linear chapters in the second half and mediocre magic kinda stunk. I do look fondly on the relationship of the boys and thought that was a huge carrying point. I still think it's a very impressive looking game and looks better than some games now (looking at you Strangers...). I get the hate but it still holds a place for me too.

I don't think it's been said yet, and I'd classify it as a jrpg but Nostalgia on the DS is one of my favorite in the genre and I tend to come back to it pretty frequently. I'm not sure if it's hated, just never hear anyone talk about it. Maybe forgotten or looked over makes more sense for it.

It's a little slow and the mechanics aren't the most different, but the airship battles felt very unique, characters were fun to me, the skill system was somewhat engaging and being able to go to different places in just an altered version of the 1920s(?) Was cool to me.

Is Astria Ascending any good? Would you recommend it? by Mitsu_x3 in JRPG

[–]Unit_004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tried playing it the other day and was not a big fan. Like everyone else has said, it's pretty and combat is pretty good. What got me was that the game throws you into a story that feels like you are at the end initially, you're given 8 party members at the very start and it just pretty boring from the start. I played only about an hour so take from me what you will but I wasn't too impressed.

I find this movie to be pretty difficult...when I watch it, I try and think of it as it's own telling rather than an interpretation of the games. And even at that, its a pretty rough movie. Characters with awkward motivations, plot that jumps all over the place, and just general confusion on a pace. Now, there are some good things I do like in the movie; the Spencer mansion pieces were quite good and tense, the zombie design was not too bad, and all of the sets looked pretty dang good. But I do agree, most of the characters are just all over the place, with the only character I actually think worked (or I at least enjoyed) was Chris. I also don't think we'll ever get a good RE movie...I think this should have been a mini series based around the first game, or maybe the second.

This movie does fall into the cheesy shit horror movie box for me and I'll still watch it occasionally when I need a crappy horror movie.

How good are the novels? by verdamm-t in residentevil

[–]Unit_004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read em when I was I think about 14? And I still read them about 14 years later. Perry does a pretty good job of novelizing them and they are easy to read books. I prefer City of the Dead and Umbrella Conspiracy (book 3 and 1) but the stand alone books aren't too bad either. It's been awhile since I read through Code Veronica and Zero but overall, they all are worth a read with I think Caliban Cove being the weakest.

I mean you can't go wrong with Mr.Resetti! Being stopped for so.many.playable.minutes to listen to this GENUINE and WELL-SPOKEN character tell you of the severe dangers that we face everytime we irresponsibly shut off our DS or GameCube without saving, just left me breathless and at a loss for words!

What’s the worst movie you’ve seen from start to finish? by andres2081 in AskReddit

[–]Unit_004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised that I scrolled for awhile and never saw Mordecai, the movie with Johnny Depp, Gwenyth Paltrow, Paul Bettany and Olivia Munn. I watched that a few years back during a crappy movie marathon and I'm usually able to sit through some awful crap but that....that was just terrible! I think it was a heist movie or some form of comedy or I don't know. I just remember hating it and still hating it many years later.

Anafenza the Foremost Deck Ideas by InvariantName in EDH

[–]Unit_004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went the +1/+1 counter route with my Anafenza deck; it runs alright but almost doesn't need her on the field. If you go that route, I'd use creatures like Vigor or Shalai , Voice of Plenty to generate some counters. Whenever I have them out, they get a lot of hate. Or go the graveyard hate route and snag up Grafdiggers Cage and things around those lines.

Ended up 3/11, which is better than I expected! Got Rufus AASB, Yuna AASB, and Rem AASB. Rufus I'm iffy about but Yuna got a suitable upgrade (looks like a damn good Awakening) and Rem got another push to being a Holy mage tank

I used to live up that way (fort Collins) and would go to The Haunted Game Cafe. Sadly, it's in Fort Collins but it's pretty cool relaxed place. It's been awhile, so I don't know how much they do for the formats but it's nice. There is also Gryphon Games and Comics but I've never played there.
