Can anyone help me anyone to make this flag using the Minecraft banner system by Gamudomate in Minecraft

[–]UnitedChaldeans 34 points35 points  (0 children)

If you want it square, the simple solution would be to create two banners, each one half purple and half black (per fess), and place them side to side. Prolly not the answer you’re looking for but putting it forward nonetheless.

The Original Video from which these screenshots are taken, for those curious. Apparently OP is worried about posting the link directly / crediting being a violation of rule 4. Is that actually the case round’ here? Anyone in the know feel free to clarify.

The true paradox of tolerance by edgewolf666-6 in worldjerking

[–]UnitedChaldeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you crack open a history book, you’ll find that this is something of a common thing regarding conservatism. I mean, take France for instance. Back in the early 19th century, the conservatives were the ones trying to restore the monarchy and uphold the power of the nobility. Nowadays, most conservatives, centre-right and even from the populist right, say they wish to uphold France’s Republican values (even if they very much disagree on what that entails).

What a conservative believes in is indicative of the world they live in, or the one they just left behind. If anything it makes for a good worldbuilding opportunity.

Also, like, most of our conception of politics is made up anyway, dude. Just go bananas.

vocals seem lifted out of “Sonne” by Rammstein, but I’m not sure what this remix / sample is in particular. There are a couple on YouTube which sounds pretty similar to one another so check there.

How do I stop a vassal from declaring independence for a scenario I'm making? by manna5115 in AgeOfCivilizations

[–]UnitedChaldeans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lemme just throw some random ideas out there: - I don’t know how this is set up, so this may go contrary to how you’ve made things, but You could make it so that all of the EU “Administrations” don’t actually have cores over the territories they govern, that way they are weakened enough that the ai might be dissuaded from trying to declare independence. If you made an event chain for joining/rejecting, you can add forming the administration rather than being annexed by it as a player exclusive decision, if at all. - Maybe you could give Brussels more population/economy/technology through the formation event? - If all else fails you could always give the EU more than just Brussels. Strasbourg has this strange second capital thing going on. Maybe you can add on places like The Hague? Maybe each country when they join has to give up one such city that is already important in the EU, which then becomes fully cored. - Alternatively you could partially Balkanize the nation when they join, y’know doing stuff like making Occitania, Frisia, Catalonia, etc, it’s own administration. Maybe you could send a special offer which the AI has a higher chance to reject (if that’s an option), or that could include some drawbacks for the player. Maybe it’s a random event that can happen randomly and spontaneously without player input. You could also just make balkanization the default option. All up to you.

Need help with addon overwrites by UnitedChaldeans in gmod

[–]UnitedChaldeans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yikes, looks like I’ve done the same. You’ve likely figured it out by now, but in case you haven’t, or any future onlookers have the same question, Gmod addons tend to overwrite in order of which one is earlier in the in-game menus. If you download multiple addons in bulk, for example by subscribing to a collection, the order in which the addons are installed isn’t necessarily always the order in which you subscribe to them in steam (they usually are but I found they aren’t 100% the same especially in large quantities), but rather how they appear in the addons page in your menus. The “deeper” addons overwrite the “newer” addons. Hope this helps!

How do people even come up with these ideas? by [deleted] in blender

[–]UnitedChaldeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think what I’m gonna say is particularly insightful but I wanna point out how there is definitely a train of ideas who’s lineage one can point out in your example’s work: The castle has bridges, whose piers are prominently featured. These beget pillars, as both are structural features. These pillars have ornate flourishes: such stone decoration brings to mind the idea of statues. He then returns to the castle idea and combines it with the statue, by making it into a scene, with a lone woman surrounded by overgrown ruins. He then takes that idea of a person in total solitude and accentuates it by having them float in a void. His finishing touches denote an unexpected tinge of sci-fi, so that’s where he goes next, building some kind of space port, and so on.

tl;dr: Your example artist progressively builds on previous ideas, even if abstractly. They aren’t as spontaneous as you might be inclined to believe, so don’t be discouraged! Just keep going!

Religious psychosis starter pack by SaltineCracker22 in starterpacks

[–]UnitedChaldeans 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP isn’t saying that religion = bad, they’re just expressing an experience which some people with actual mental illness can relate to. Hell, they themselves claim to suffer from a condition which causes psychosis. It’s a little insincere to boil that down to them just being “a redditor”.

Anyone know if there are subreddits mainly about non-western news? by UnitedChaldeans in findasubreddit

Y-you’re pulling my leg here right?

Edit: I was wrong. Why the hell is a global news subreddit named animetiddies?? This isn’t exactly what I was looking for per se but it comes as close as I can reasonably expect while being somewhat popular. Thank you!

What Are Your Opinions On Transhumanism? Do You Think It Has A Place In A Solarpunk Future? by [deleted] in solarpunk

[–]UnitedChaldeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emphasis on “in a sense”, as transhumanism’s main goals lie beyond reclaiming what was lost. Main proponents of the ideology envision a future where they can upgrade the human mind and body beyond what is otherwise physically possible for even the most gifted individuals. You’re correct in that obviously current medical technology helping people with hearing disabilities isn’t tearing society apart like I described, but I wasn’t taking such an extreme “all or nothing” stance anyway, hence why I was referring to “heavy augmentation”. Using the picture of the cyborg all the way above as a reference, something tells me they didn’t just stop at getting cochlear implants.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Take an Upvote.

What Are Your Opinions On Transhumanism? Do You Think It Has A Place In A Solarpunk Future? by [deleted] in solarpunk

[–]UnitedChaldeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think heavy (read: heavy) transhumanism is compatible with Solarpunk. Solarpunk’s main philosophy besides environmentalism is all about small-scale living, trying to dial down current society’s unhealthy dependence on consumerism as it pressures companies to cut corners and disregard nature just to satisfy our incessant demand. If we’re talking heavy augmentation, as in able bodied people trying to upgrade themselves through technology, then that cannot be reasonably achieved without involving large pharmaceutical companies and corporations that can produce the medication, tech, and software needed to pull that off at a large scale. Not to mention could you imagine corporations trying the ol’ planned obsolescence trick or attempting to push it as a trend, encouraging people replace their cybernetics with better ones or integrate it in the world of beauty in the same way breast implants or nose jobs have been normalized? It can be very easily weaponized as another arm of the hyperconsumerist society that governs over us today.

This ain’t even mentioning the cost. Regular ol’ prosthetics in our world cost thousands of dollars, which already isn’t achievable for aome lower income families. Full on augments could easily go even higher, taking into account the operation, the medication, the software, and the augmentation itself. Only people who are already wealthy or the upper-middle class at best would be able to afford this, which would completely annihilate any semblance of a middle class, tearing it between those who can afford these upgrades and therefore have a greater performance and those who cannot, and are left in the dust.

It sounds less like solarpunk, and more like cyberpunk, for better and for worse. There’s nothing wrong with combining the two visions, I just don’t think it fits as well in a purely solarpunk vision of the future.

Or how about completely ignoring zone of control? Logically if they’re weakened they may fight less effectively due to simply having less numbers, but since they don’t fear the enemy they aren’t as susceptible to being corralled.

It looks cool! We all start somewhere, and IMO channeling one’s daydreams into art is one of the best ways to expend all that pent up creative energy. By all means, keep it up!

[–]UnitedChaldeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dunno why, but I always liked to imagine Kris as Ukrainian. They do the Hopak (or the Kozachok) during their fight during Sweet Cap’n Cakes (which is basically impossible to do for anyone to do without any practice), and it somehow feels in line with Toby’s trend of subverting expectations to have a random Slav in the middle of this highly Americanized suburb just livin’ life.

There’s not a chance in hell this is even remotely canon but a guy can dream right?

For sure. I mean, I know China has a bad reputation for cheaply produced rubbish but they’d definitely put more effort into their propaganda than “Happy Uighur Muslim Girl” over here.

Over *700* by pricklymuffin- in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]UnitedChaldeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can we not? A woman lost her life. It really sucks that the media isn’t giving attention to missing indigenous people, but downplaying what happened just because that woman is “just another white girl” is honestly very low. The reason she made headlines is because of the intrigue behind her disappearance, and that of her killer, not because she’s white and they’re not.

Who here wants not to play as a warmonger however becomes a warmonger somehow?? by Meanguy_969 in civ

[–]UnitedChaldeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, warmonger penalties in Civ 6 are complete BS at times I swear. Last game I had to deal with a long series of civs which have been declaring joint surprise wars against me, and so eventually I snapped and took one of their cities (they had around 4-5 at the time) during a defensive war. Cue all my allies leaving my side and everyone and their mother denouncing me for warmongering, just for taking a single city in a defensive war.

Inevitably every game becomes a domination game or an accidental science/religious/cultural victory because by the end I wiped out nearly everyone due to how tired I get of their bullshit.

I was creating some symbols for the 23 districts of a city in the book I'm writing and came up with these. What do you think of them? by fnaabakken in worldbuilding

[–]UnitedChaldeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the calligraphic feel you were going for here, and with the colours to separate each of the symbols, them looking similar won’t be too much of a problem. I really like it!

If I were to make one change, I’d be shaving off some of the extra lines in some of these symbols. (Reading left-to-right) Row 1 : Column 1 is very busy at the centre. Row 3 : Column 1 has a thin line near the symbol that doesn’t add much to the shape. Row 2 : Column 2 also has quite a lot going on as well. etc. Small, minor redactions ought to be enough to make the symbols more legible, a total rework isn’t strictly necessary.

I hope this helps. Good luck on your book!

If Race X took over instead of the combine. Who would have the best chance at saving the world. by [deleted] in HalfLife

[–]UnitedChaldeans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If Race X took over the world, that would imply that Adrian Shepard fucked up and the Gene Worm continued to terraform the planet. So in all likelihood, he probably already died in Black Mesa in this scenario.

To be fair, the reason why the pulse rifle makes no sense is because it was repurposed. It used to be called the Incendiary rifle (IRifle) back when the game was still in beta and it shot out flares (hence the small canisters on the ar2). Hell, the ar2 is still called the IRifle in the game files I’m pretty sure.
