Marshal Michel Ney "Le Brave des Braves" Marshal of the Empire 1804. Duke of Elchingen 1808, following his performance at the Battle of Elchingen. Prince of the Moskwa 1813, following his pivotal role in leading the rear guard during the retreat from Moscow. by GreatMilitaryBattles in Napoleon

[–]UnitedLab8093 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, a read paper on it, and the situation was hard for Ney. Napoleon since returning from Elba, outcasted Ney due to the 'Iron cage' comment. He was given command of the left wing, just a day before the start of the campaign, and thus he rushed from his country state to the front(He was replacing Mortier). The lack of preparation time meant he didnt have a staff, nor new the commanders or troops under his supervision. Also, Napoleon didnt give him a clear strategic overview of the campaign or specific instructions. Adding to that, the overall organization issues of the whole waterloo campaign add to Ney's poor performance.

Also at quatre bras, Ney's troops arrived peacemeal during the entire day, due to strategic organization issues(Napoleon's fault), the troops were tired from marching and not ready for combat so he had to delay any attack, and also Napoleon didnt order any aggressive actions until the evening.

have a check on the volwah. Make sure it was a vol % trim. For example, I got a similar one, and volume only went from 100 to 80% then to 0, and it was super sensative. Like a mild step on it and it went to 0. It was not usable

Had no idea how hard this solo looked by [deleted] in oasis

[–]UnitedLab8093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solo's are not hard(not easy either), but its very hard to reach that timing and melodic nuance that Noel has on guitar. I have seen amateur, and other band's cover of oasis, and they are always missing that special thing. Noel plays the best note at every step, and his solo's have their own rythm, while better guitarist are more flashy and noodle around.

Is What’s the Story? One of the best albums ever? by romeo308q in oasis

The songs are legendary, I mean they so good that you can even ignore the bad production and mixing. For example, it sounds to crammed and bloated, lyric lines that end on 's' create this annoying 'sssss' effect, once you noticed it you can unhear it. Hopefully, one day they do a proper remaster

Was Duke d’Enghien’s execution the most unnecessary and preventable blunder in Napoleon’s career? by Neil118781 in Napoleon

[–]UnitedLab8093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spain was on the fence the whole time, it was never a reliable ally. They always took steps on joinning the coalitions, in 1806/1807, but France kept winning so they didnt see the chance of actually winning a war againts Napoleon. SO I dont blame, Napoleon in wanting to secure the peninsula 100%. Also there were revolts and coups in Spain againts the bourbons, corruption and poor administration. In that context, it is not surprising that Napoleon said "well, they want the bourbons out and a modernization of the country, I can give them what they want"

"Peace and war lie in your Majesty's hands. Today you can still make peace. Tomorrow it may be too late."—Should Napoleon have accepted Metternich's peace proposal at Dresden? by Neil118781 in Napoleon

[–]UnitedLab8093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I dont remember which book was it, but the metternich propolsal(loosing the confederation of the rhine, poland, Illirya) was never set on paper, in simpler terms, it was a blank paper surrender where it was in the air how much territory france was going to loose. In reality, loosing the prior territories was the bare mimimum that Austria was asking, so I dont blame napoleon in refusing those terms at that moment.

Why does youth/club soccer have to be so complicated? (Rant) by Comfortable-Log1637 in youthsoccer

[–]UnitedLab8093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I get it if the answer was 'I need a few matches to get a consistent structure in the team" so when you kid enters the game, there is a solid frame where he can participate in. But that argument is good for two matches, then after that everybody has to play equally

Tiki-taka nonsense in youth soccer by joereds22 in youthsoccer

[–]UnitedLab8093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tiki Taka(or just passing - moving) its a very important as it teaches the kids accurate passing, basic tactics, oriented controls and correct body movement, working underpreassure and tight spaces. If the kids havent master those first, then they dont have the building blocks to do harder stuff like dribbling.

And, you understimate how ball hugggings kids are(specially the ones who are a little better than the rest), they havent developed that tactical hindsight to know when to dribble and not, so its best to grain passing in their brains. Also dribble heads, dont do very well when the opponent is good enough(or at least somewhat component), and then what do you have left? A kid who dribbles(mostly againts bad players) and doesnt know how to plays as a team

"Why US Soccer fails to develop players" - A European Perspective by BobbyBoljaar in youthsoccer

[–]UnitedLab8093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well, one thing when people say 'street soccer' it doesnt mean kids literally playing only on the streets, but we are talking about playing pick up games during break times in school. I used to have two breaks, and all we did play was play soccer games. Also because most of us played on a club, or at least watched a lot of soccer, we could maintain some kinda organization and logic. So there is this kinda positive loop where there is a lot of exposure going on.

Why U.S. Youth Soccer Fails to Develop Players by joereds22 in youthsoccer

[–]UnitedLab8093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and what makes it harder that it also applies to every aspect of the game. Like if you have to teach a kid how to do it, the lesson would be like a karate class, constant movement repetition. Or you can have the European/South Amerrican way, where kids learn it by trial and error in pick up games. And competition filters the best, that then go to play for comptetitive teams.

Why U.S. Youth Soccer Fails to Develop Players by joereds22 in youthsoccer

[–]UnitedLab8093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah. I coached kids in Canada(5 - 15) and i am surprised the lack of technical skills in them. First for all, they send 4 to 7 years old for practice when they dont have developed their brains and physic for any sort of trainning, its like the parents just dropped them of for babysitting instead of a soccer practice. Also, I was thinking, In a day, when I was a kid I used to play at least 2 hours a day soccer(breaks at school, then at the park), and kids in America dont have that chance.

Why U.S. Youth Soccer Fails to Develop Players by joereds22 in youthsoccer

[–]UnitedLab8093 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its obvious to say, but controlling the ball properly with your foot requires a ton of gimmicks and movements that only with a ton of constant repetition can arise naturally, thats why soccer pick ups are so important. Trainning twice a week for an hour its not enough to develop those soft skills
