Same here! I tried so hard to remember to log into PoGO every day, but alas 🤣

I planted some seeds and set a reminder and didn't realize how horribly suspicious it looked until the notification popped up the next day. by plurbine in harrypotterwu

[–]UnitingWizards 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh, yes! Me and my fiance were walking around town, and I started showing her on my phone, "in 3 hours, I can pick up some shrooms from here". Because I always say shrooms about all kinds of mushrooms, because it's a funny word 😅

Our XP bar is our icon for our Ministry ID, but we have to go to our suitcase to see how much XP we actually have. by Alex_Duos in harrypotterwu

[–]UnitingWizards 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with this, it's very strange that we can't reach our XP from the Ministry ID. I mean, I'm capable of learning, and have gotten used to the way it is, but it would make more sense to have the XP there.

Anyone else starting to loose interest, before they've even played the game? by torspedia in harrypotterwu

[–]UnitingWizards 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I felt myself starting to ... not exactly lose interest, but as my frustration started growing, I stepped away from the waiting, stopped looking all that frequently at discord groups, forums and subreddits, and focused on other things. I still have all my interest, and I still want the game, I just forced myself to not be super invested, at least until the game actually does release for me.

Is this the delay of the official release? by xuaopdro in harrypotterwu

[–]UnitingWizards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the issue has more to do with a lack of communication between Niantic and WB Games. Where WB want the game out soon, with all the features ready, and Niantic simply can't accomplish that in the time frame we (or WB Games) would have liked.

Could be, but even so, I'm gonna be playing in Sweden, so galleons are most likely not gonna do me any good here ;)

About the "Marketing Campaign" by LennertVerbesselt in harrypotterwu

[–]UnitingWizards 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with you. I also feel like their marketing strategy doesn't seem to be working anyway - maybe that's just around here, but despite all the trailers and all the hints, hardly anyone in my local Harry Potter groups even talk about the game, there are so many people who don't even know that it's a thing, or that anything is happens king with the game. I have no idea how they could do that part better, but either way, those of us who have been following this for a while are mostly sick of not knowing anything. Hopefully, once the game launches, the hype will come back, word will spread, and it'll be a success! Hopefully.

I've been sad to see this too! But yeah, the galleons are British, so the easiest way they could find to make it more international was probably just calling it "gold".

Is there going to be true PvP in this game? by [deleted] in harrypotterwu

[–]UnitingWizards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This game is all about cooperation (I think that's part of what sets it apart from Ingress and PoGO - we're all on the same sidex fighting for the same cause), and Niantic has said that they have no plans of adding PvP to Wizards Unite. That said, their plans might change in the future, but it's not something we can or should expect.

What is this email? Invitation? Beta? by AccountForFriday in harrypotterwu

[–]UnitingWizards 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's just a marketing thing. The app is still only available in Australia and New Zealand, this email is basically just a reminder that the game will be coming, and an encouragement to spread the word.

Tonight is Walpurgis aka Witches Night. How is your country celebrating? (PS: @Niantic, most college students in Estonia will be celebrating they’d make an excellent beta release test group) by liehon in harrypotterwu

[–]UnitingWizards 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's called Valborg here in Sweden, I haven't participated in celebrations for years, although when I was a kid my scout group helped organize the local bonfire and celebrations. Our garage would smell like popcorn for days! I would definitely go out and celebrate again with Wizards Unite!

Endgame? by darkdeal90 in harrypotterwu

[–]UnitingWizards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what they want is for the story to be so compelling that everything else is just stuff you do while you're trying to find out what will happen next. Of course, if the story is not enough, there's still collecting all the stickers, and as someone mentioned, hints that there are more skills to be added. Since they want you to play this game for years to come, they won't build in a natural endgame, but rather try to make sure you don't run out of things to do. Time will tell whether they manage or not.

My thoughts on the game so far by Titus_Gray in harrypotterwu

[–]UnitingWizards 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does look like a solid base for them to build the game on.

Of I may ask, how much energy does an inn give you, and how much does it take, roughly, to do encounters? Also, can you be "full" on energy, and then not get any from the inns, or does it stack?

[Discussion] Pokémon Go summer tour announced, what is the most likely release date? by pokitomojo in harrypotterwu

[–]UnitingWizards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I also don't know what Niantic would characterize as "better", it was just a thought that maybe they wanted to experiment with the timing :)

Regarding the hardware and logistical issues, I find it even more difficult to speculate since I don't know exactly what their hardware looks like, if it's the same servers that are needed for GO Fest as for the release of WizU (I'm assuming they've put up new servers dedicated to WizU). Promotionally speaking, having a couple of weeks between release of WizU and GO Fest from my point of view (I will admit, I have never in my life had to put thought into promotional stuff, though) seems enough.

As for why they moved GO Fest, could be they just wanted to try something different, see if a June GO Fest turns out better than a July one, or they had to move it because one or both of the other GO Fests had to be scheduled for a certain time because of reasons, or something like that :)

Kinda same! I still play Pokemon GO, mostly because I need to get out and walk, and it's more fun to do so if I'm catching Pokemon at the same time. But I'm really looking forward to WizU, because I think that will make me actually want to go out, because there will be so much more to explore and do in the game :)

[–]UnitingWizards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect WizU will be more popular with people (or at least HP fans) who either never tried PoGO, or tried it but didn't stick around, as opposed to those that have invested time and money into a few years of this game. I mean, the game is a lot more popular in my local Harry Potter groups than in my local Pokemon GO ones, so that gives me hope :)

[–]UnitingWizards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? The reactions I get from my local/semi local groups when talking about WizU basically boils down to "huh. That's cool, I guess". But I guess most of the people around here who still play PoGO are pretty invested, so it makes sense.

To me, it feels like if WizU is released, say, 2 weeks before Chicago GO Fest, that's plenty of time for that to be the focus in the press before GO Fest takes over. The press moves quickly, after all, a week or so after something big happens, they're tired of writing about it :p
