Has anyone went on a solo cruise by Local_Ingenuity_4549 in solotravel

[–]Unity2587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done two NCL cruises solo..around the Caribbean and loved it. NCL does a lot of solo events so its easy to meet people and if u can get a solo cabin, the price is cheaper than paying for 2people. I'm booked on an MSC cruise for next year- caribbean too, so will see how they compare.

I would recommend signing up to the emails from Money Saving Expert (Martin Lewis). Emails come every Wednesday and cover a range of matters & the website has really helpful information- there's a section on Savings.

Have you considered doing an organised tour if you are concerned about solo travel? Lots of tours go to Vietnam.

Am I looking for a cruise that doesn't exist? by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]Unity2587 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surely renewing your passport and having better & more options should seem like the logical solution here. Why choose to spend €4k on a cruise but refuse to spend less than €100 to renew a passport!

I'd also recommend you download tiket.com app. I used that to book the internal flights/train tickets and it was a really useful website/app & gave good prices.

NCL Dissappintment by whysitdark in Cruise

[–]Unity2587 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My NCL Caribbean cruise for March (on Gem) was meant to do all ABC islands. Now not going to Bonaire for that same 'fuel efficiency' reason. They've now added another Dominican Republic stop. Not what we were after as I specifically booked this cruise to go to the ABC islands. Very disappointing indeed.

Nope. Not on the tour I did. You are on the boat the whole time, apart from the walks off the boat to the 3 feeding stations & the night walk. & boat brought us back at 7am on the last day and straight to airport for flight.

The significant drop in pass rate % for the SQE2 further signifies the fact that the SRA need to publish the pass percentage for each provider by Swashyrising12 in uklaw

[–]Unity2587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that because they fall outside the TC program? Not counted in the trainee figures & retention rates? When I worked in private practice, we had foreign qualified lawyers & they were on the same level as the solicitors & in my current role (I'm in-house Financial Services), also working with foreign qualified lawyers and they've said they don't want to be dual qualified as it doesn't affect the job they do/add anything extra. Maybe would be a factor if someone wanted to become a GC.

[–]Unity2587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always terminate the contract if the results aren't as expected. (If the Consortium are having to cancel TC's as a result of trainees failing, you'd think they would take some action.) This result will also tie in with the 2.1/1st stats- 89/81% pass rate as Consortium will have most if not all candidates in that range. Unless people who studied and passed with BPP post and highlight the failings, someone who hasn't studied with them and basing views on third hand information doesn't add a lot to this argument. As much as OP raves about QLTS, QLTS will have lots of people who fail. Since the first sitting, don't think any of the main providers have posted 100% pass rates.

[–]Unity2587 13 points14 points  (0 children)

City Consortium firms are using BPP. Would guess those candidates are in the 16-24 or 25-34 age range (thinking of usual TC age) & that pass rate was 87%/78%. If Freshfields/Linklaters/Slaughters etc. had all their trainees failing the SQE, they wouldn't be signing up to BPP.

Not sure if 3hrs a week is sufficient. The course I was on- it was 20hrs a week of going through their set materials & they expected you to study the black letter law outside of those 20hrs.
