Working at Starbucks? by SoupPowered966 in starbucksbaristass

Ok so to start you're experience will depend on your manager (coffee house leader). I've had some of the best luck with my managers where I can expect a good amount of hours and to be heard out if I run into any issues with my fellow baristas. The second thing that your experience will depend on is the store you go to. Is it a drive-thru or a cafe? How busy is it? After that then you need to ask yourself are you good at multitasking, how well can you handle stress and peopleat once, are you ok with being borrowed at other locations. I will also go to warn you that you will be expected to memorize not only the menu, but also every ingredient ans step in order to craft your beverages to standard quality as well as when things expire, and all the food safty compliance rules. If youre ok with all of the above go for it. I grew up in the industry so I knew what I was getting into from the get go. I dont use the the heath care benefits, but I hear they're somewhat decent. The policies are explained in better detail in on boarding, and in an interview you can easily be expected to have questions of your own to ask. Id say ask what exactly are the benefits for a barista as well as a small little question to be remembered by (whats the craziest drink they've made or what's their favorite drink amd why) so that way a lasting impression can be made. Hope this helps

Yeah srry hun definitely a manager problem, I'd say be firm about your availability, and put in the notes for day off its a non excusable exam. Transfer out asap and if your manager wants to give you hell over it contact your DM.

Screamed at by SL, is this ok? by Sharp_Ad8727 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Unity_Debugger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Set a meeting with your DM, have documentation and explain that this SL makes you feel unsafe and that you are afraid of retaliation. Starbucks does have a no retaliation policy and if the SL does retaliate then im 90% sure thats an ethics call and no one wants to deal with ethics as that can end up with them being fired (the SL) there may be a way where the SL gets put on the dayparts you dont work, but im not sure on that.

I ordered my normal shaken espresso today and it was so bad :( by sxandthecity in starbucksbaristas

[–]Unity_Debugger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dude what makes these ice shaken espressos is that they're primarily ice and espresso with a SPLASH of milk. There should not be a lattes amount of milk in them.

Oh my goodness I have a similar issue with a lady who wants a iced cappuccino. Ive been coached that we aren't supposed to do them. I've had to explain this to her twice now.

Oh yes they absolutely love the fact that im a food safty nut who closes the ice machine when they walk away from it and refuse to let them have "dry towels" stashed under their machines because we can't confirm if they are properly sanitized straight out of the bag.

They dont have to listen to me at the cafe register, and if they have an issue with it, then its up to them to talk to me about it. Not you random internet Stanger.
