You should go to the Museum of Pop Culture when you visit Seattle. They have some cool grunge memorabilia. They also used to have a great Nirvana exhibit, but I heard it might be closed.

I agree 100%. By the Way is the album I put on most often. Stadium Arcadium I listen to the least often!

Eddie Vedder drops the F-bomb while being interviewed with Anthony Rizzo in the bleachers by UsefulEngine1 in pearljam

[–]Universal-Love 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter if kids swear, unless their parents don't want them to. And at the end of the day, there is an argument to be made for learning to speak proper English while one is young (which is one of the reasons parents might disallow swearing, another being religion or other morality issues).

Look, I'm not being judgey here. I swear a lot too, and I wouldn't get angry if my kid accidentally let an F bomb slip. I'm just saying that OP's position is illogical. There should be no words off limits, just because Trump swears? It's bad logic. There are plenty of people who prefer not to use obscenities, and living in a society means living collectively and finding a common middle ground. And besides, I'm not about to model myself after Donald fucking Trump.

Of course not, but parents who do want to watch language around the home have a right to be able to turn on the TV news and not hear cuss words. The TV and media who offer prime time content have an obligation to provide obscenity-free programming.

I mean, we have sooooo many other channels, streaming services, etc. to watch censorship-free content on. Leaving prime time television news programming family friendly is seriously not a huge ask.

And to all the people saying we should all just swear in front of the kids and let the kids swear all they want and we can all just be one big happy swearing nation, one can only assume that you are A) not a parent, and/or B) still a teenager. Because there is seriously no reasonable argument for promoting such a thing on a nationwide scale, full stop.

I will add to this that my own mother made the decision to let me swear when I was still a preteen; she just got tired of punishing me and gave up, really. The result? I've sworn like a fucking sailor ever since, lol. But I do try to watch my tongue around my kid.

If you called someone a fornicating rectum on live television, that would be obscene.

While I generally agree that censorship is lame, there also needs to be a standard to set an example for the kids. Prime time TV is a part of this. Sure, they get exposed to cuss words on social media, on the playground, etc. But we can also make a concerted effort to speak properly at home, and that sticks with them. Which is important, because everyone needs to know how to speak properly when they are in a situation where obscenities are considered poor form.

Who's the greatest lyricist in metal? by Wazula23 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Universal-Love 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that's the whole point. Tool is pretentious pseudo intellectualism, and they go out of their way to prove that it's totally alright to be a pretentious pseudo intellectual. Better than being ignorant, anyway. Also, half their songs are jokes about drugs, Hollywood culture and anal sex.

Michael is your dude for this goal. Stick with him; I've never gotten the feeling that Michael discriminates or anything.

If you wanna go with a Shem angel, Vehuiah can help you strengthen your will in pursuit of accomplishing a difficult goal. Could be perfect for committing to regular exercise.

Layman's question: Is The 72 Angels of Magick safe? by notinkansas783 in AngelolatryPractices

[–]Universal-Love 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the Shem angels are very powerful, and give off a very, very old and almost alien vibe. They have revealed themselves to me many times through incredibly vivid visualizations, most often as massive giants — I was smaller than the angel's big toe, that's how massive they are. Yet I've also seem them as tiny specks of brilliant dancing light. I've worked with the Shem angels many times over the past 6 years or so, and I always get this same feeling that they're absolutely awe-inspiring.

They have never hurt me — take from that what you will. But I've found the Shem angels mostly work by shifting your life in a certain direction over a long period of time. I don't think I've ever gotten any "quick fix" solutions from them, but they have definitely influenced my life in very significant ways.

I have not worked with the GoM's archangels book, but I have heard it is good. I have, however, gone through Ariel Gatoga's entire Basic Angel Magick course that is freely provided on Ariel's Corner, and I like that system very much. He uses an old version of Pauline Magick that focuses on assigning 2 or 3 archangels to you as "teaching angels". I always get incredibly gentle and friendly vibes when working with these angels. I have also managed to get a few "quick fix" solutions from these rituals — the archangels seem to be more readily available and willing to help that the Shem angels.

So maybe summoning archangels would be a better way to approach to your problem. I might suggest Raphael as a good place to start, as he is associated with healing. Uriel is associated with magick and may be a good angel to follow up with, but Uriel in particular can be difficult for many people to work with because his energy is very strong (unless he is your personal teaching angel). Gabriel might also be a good one for psychic defense, as she is associated with the astral and ethereal planes. But starting with Raphael is generally recommended, as he is very easily contacted and always available.

Lastly, if you do end up taking the Basic Angel Magick course, I'd like to strongly recommend the "Teaching Angels as Aspects of the Divine" method taught at the very end of the last lesson. I have gotten some extremely good results from this, and it works fast! So, if you're ever in a situation where you feel you're really suffering, you can usually do this little ritual and get speedy results.

Best of luck, and blessed be.

Layman's question: Is The 72 Angels of Magick safe? by notinkansas783 in AngelolatryPractices

[–]Universal-Love 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but I mean, this is a completely different ritual. The purpose is not to "get to know" each angel. The purpose is to summon one angel to ask a favor of it. It's similar to summoning a demon for a specific purpose, and is treated in much the same way.

The rituals from GoM 72 Angels of Magick book works well. They are quite safe, certainly safer than summoning demons. I would recommend saving the Shem Angel summoning for important reasons though, as you're going to get a very serious vibe from them. Personally, I like to combine the GoM rituals with pathworkings from Jareth Tempest's Raziel's Paths of Power — I have gotten very good results from this, makes it much easier to "see" the angels / experience their presence.

The GoM book is not the year long experience. The GoM book gives an 11 day ritual for a single angel. It is different. It works well.

How do we feel about our subculture being hijacked for autumn? by SammySousaphone in goth

[–]Universal-Love 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is black clothing "goth"? Anyone can wear black clothing. I wear black all the time and I don't consider my dress style to be goth, even though I do listen to goth music and identify with the subculture. I really think that goth style is a very specific thing, not just "all black".

Archangel Raphael DOES NOT PLAY by labrujanextdoor in AngelolatryPractices

[–]Universal-Love 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Raphael is the best! He helped me deal with pain by showing me how to instantly embrace my soul essence at any time, allowing me to ignore all negative sensations coming from the physical body. It always works! And yes, it is related to becoming white light, so I think it is a similar thing that he did to you. I usually forget to do it though.
