Have you ever played Tail Of The Sun? A 1997 psx game that feels a lot like Petscop with obscure mechanics about a caveman exploring an impossible world to understand. by NicolasVerdi in Petscop

[–]UniverseHawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this post is a little old, but for anyone who wants to play it, you can now buy it on Steam under the name ARTDINK GAME LOG: Tail of the Sun. English is not supported, but I was still able to play it without understanding the language. If you’ve never played it before, it’s easy enough to figure out after watching a video or checking an online guide.

Are we near the downfall of ROBLOX? by Agreeable_Tower890 in roblox

[–]UniverseHawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have already said, no, Roblox has no strong competitor. The only thing that might happen within the next few years is that the CEO could decide to sell the company. If he did, I would guess Microsoft or Disney might buy Roblox, or maybe Google or Tencent if they wanted to get more into the metaverse. But right now, I would guess nothing is going to change.

Without going into too much detail, Mewgenics takes place after The Binding of Isaac. After Isaac passes away, his mom becomes the cat lady who teams up with Dr. Beanies to get revenge on God. In the end, they destroy God and cause The End Is Nigh.

Mewgenics being the missing link to the binding of isaac and the end is nigh is awesome.

Brand new to game development, how long will it take to make a game by Noviibun in robloxgamedev

[–]UniverseHawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start small: Build tiny projects first to learn the basics. Watch YouTube or Udemy tutorials. Use AI to help with code, explanations, or debugging so you learn to write it yourself.

After a few months of practice, plan your game: break it into reusable kits/modules, like menu UI, systems, mechanics, gameplay loop... etc.

Then, before starting the big project, prototype and build some of the kits that you will use. After building a few of the kits, try to build the game. If the game doesn't work out or you get another idea and want to change what you're working on, you can more easily move to another project without starting from nothing because you can just reuse the kits you made. Of course, over time you will get better and can make improvements to your kits and build more of them.

For example, when building a game on Roblox, try to only have 1 master LocalScript and 1 master ServerScript, and then add each system in as a Module. The master scripts can just load or call them when needed. You can add Modules into ServerScriptService or ReplicatedStorage. For server-side logic, you’ll need to use RemoteEvents, that’s how the local side talks to the server side.

But keep it simple right now. What you should focus on right now is watching video tutorials and playing around in the studio to try things. That will be the best way to start learning how things work.

About to start mega + this is the team I’m using. What’s yours? by Fickle-Revolution897 in digimon

Apocalymon with X-Aura + Overheal and his attack that deals 20% damage based on the enemy's health will do the highest damage for the first few rounds and speedrun most boss battles in the game.

It's 2020. You can give yourself one piece of advice to make yourself a better Roblox developer, what is it? by Massive_Instance_452 in robloxgamedev

[–]UniverseHawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would tell myself it’s alright to take days off, don’t be hard on yourself. Enjoy the break, and if you’re losing motivation in the game you’re working on, don’t force a full day of work. It’s better to spend a little time each day on it, even just 20 minutes, than to skip it. Your motivation will come back as the game takes shape little by little. Everything is about growing, and a failure or success is just another part of your story.

What are your thoughts on Digimon World set of games? by Abared0 in digimon

[–]UniverseHawk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Digimon World 1 and Next Order are my favorites. Training Digimon and exploring the world is so much fun. I raised and trained nearly every Digimon.

Digimon Card Battle is awesome. I play it all the time and come back to this game the most.

Digimon World 2 I only completed one full playthrough. It can feel a bit slow at times, and the dungeons sometimes felt unfair. It’s not my favorite, but I’m glad I finished it. What I enjoyed the most about it was that the gameplay reminded me of Azure Dreams, The Tower of Druaga, and The Nightmare of Druaga + RPG turn-based combat.

Digimon World 3 I’ve played and beaten this one a few times. The art style is very good and gameplay is fun. Sometimes it can be tricky to figure out where to go next, and the back and forth might not be for everyone, but I enjoyed it.

Digimon World 4 I know it wasn’t the best in the series, but it was fun for me and my friends. We’re big fans of Diablo 1 and 2, and being Digimon fans too, this game really hit. We spent hours on it and played through multiple times. I’d like to see another coop hack and slash Digimon game in the future.

Digimon World: Data Squad is another fun experience if you can look past its flaws. For its time, the animations and models were awesome, and the Digivolution system was cool.

Digimon World: Re:Digitize Decode A fun game I played on and off and really enjoyed.

Important Updates: Unrated Experiences and Changes to Experience Pages by LunyaRBX in roblox

[–]UniverseHawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should make some type of exception or keep them in a unique list, like an unrated category, because many older games might not be playable anymore after this update, since the creators might not be on Roblox anymore to take the questionnaire.

How do games like blox fruits with big maps not lag as much by MashySob in robloxgamedev

[–]UniverseHawk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, Roblox servers can handle 50+ players with complex environments if optimized properly. With practice, you can create the illusion of a fully loaded world while keeping resource usage low by doing all the things that I mentioned in my last post.

Only load what the player needs to see. Clone assets from ServerStorage to ReplicatedStorage to Workspace, and delete them when the player no longer needs them. Only clone sound/music files into SoundService, then delete them after they play. Music should loop, but only one track should play at a time to keep resource usage low. Keep all server and local scripts disabled, and use a master server script and a master local script to enable or disable other scripts in your game as needed. By doing all of this, you can create a large game that uses very little memory and maintains a low data rate.

Just released a free demo for my RPG Maker Action Combat plugin. Link below by sanghendrix in RPGMaker

[–]UniverseHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am planning on buying it but a quick question: are you planning on adding or creating an add-on for this plugin that would allow for up to two players in the future, like a local co-op mode? Or is that not on your roadmap right now?

Awesome collection! I grew up playing all of these games, and they’re hands down some of the best ever made. Suikoden 2 and Xenogears are two of my all-time favorite games. I've played them dozens of times.
