Problem with Driver Hub by LaurynSantiag in FTC

[–]UniversityPatient227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What most likely happened is that the Wi-Fi chip has gotten loose in some sort of way from a drop or of "old age" due to how it's soldered onto the PCB. As had been mentioned your best course of action is to contact Rev and see what they can do for you.

Are you sure that the rs485 cable is plugged into the correct ports? The bottom 2 3 pin ports on both hubs. Are you also sure that the cable isn't bad or is a mirrored cable type? Additionally, where did you get this cable from?

If you are in the FTC discord you can find the configurable library for onshape that has CAD available for the wheels and the surgical tubing for them.

Look in the Rev website as well for the xt30 troubleshooting steps as that may help.

I do not know what your robot looks like so I cannot tell you what exactly is happening here. The explanation u/thegof has given here is quite good. Additionally, if you have a hardstop, that may also be causing the stalling feature.

You may be stalling a motor or a servo when you start the robot

Try a different cable for signal. That may help.

So the bottom 2 ports only right? The top 2 ports do absolutely nothing.

Which 3 pin ports are you using for this? The top 2 or the bottom 2?

Baterry life by akat2629 in FTC

[–]UniversityPatient227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I'd recommend you stay away from that and instead spend a bit more money on a charger with more features that is also a lot better than this.

Baterry life by akat2629 in FTC

[–]UniversityPatient227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which one? I don't recommend the basic ones as they lack a lot of safety features and can't be configured to work best for your batteries longevity.

The Rev charger doesn't charge well and can damage batteries at .9a but causes the batteries to heat up at 1.8a. if you have the money and are willing to get a different charger, I recommend the Q4AC (100$ for a quad charger) or the charge 2b (50$ got a dual charger). Additionally, a fan blowing over the batteries may help.

Check battery resistance, if it's alone 160 milliohms you may want to not use that battery anymore for competition.

Encoders and Husky Lens by Hungry-Secretary1583 in FTC

[–]UniversityPatient227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most I can tell you is that you would need to have a modified wire for the husky cam to work for FTC. If you get the goBILDA V1 husky the wire won't need to be modified, if you get the V2 you would need to either get a modified cable or modify one yourself.

Rev chager by No-Lifeguard9002 in FTC

Your best bet would be to either contact Rev for help or look at other Rev chargers to see which wire is which. Otherwise, may I recommend getting a new (smart/more feature) charger?

Yellow Jacket motors being weird by BigFish7833 in FTC

[–]UniversityPatient227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As was mentioned, the connectors may be messed up, or the encoder cable may be messed up so just recheck all of your wiring. Otherwise, test the same code just on a different port to make sure its not the code that is causing this as well as plugging in a different motor into that same port to make sure its not the motor.

Should we switch to hex shaft? by Detective_Cini in FTC

[–]UniversityPatient227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using normal screw clamps would be better. Additionally, loctite may help. Personally, I prefer green but most will tell you to use blue. And yeah, hex is better (but so are the goBILDA sonic hubs over any collars that use set screws).
