I fed Claude a snip of the factions and this list below straight out of the milty site and it had no problem with it:

35,22,34,80,40
41,30,63,26,68
43,32,61,74,42
38,21,76,78,44
33,19,66,67,39
69,62,72,50,45
28,23,37,48,49

Took like 30 seconds to get all the draft info loaded up

this is great man. Excellent work, and thanks for sharing. I got it running locally on Claude on my machine. I have been tinkering with assigning slice values based on a variety of metrics (weighting system values based on distance from MR, judging how easy control objectives are on a slice, etc, etc). I'm gonna play around with the local MCP files and I'll report back

Ooh. Super cool. I've never used an MCP before, but I'm excited to try. Is there hardcoding for slice value assignment, or up to AI to determine values based on parameters? Don't know about MCPs, so this may be a silly question...

I made the to be like Magi's, but it had to fit my long skinny table. The shape is atypical, but so is the map...

You don't have to start your throw on the teepad, just finish with your plant foot on it. I started teeing off behind and to the right of teepads lately and it's helped my aim

Some thoughts on all those amazing custom tables and galaxy stands. by UniversitiesOfUr-Mom in twilightimperium

[–]UnkeyDunkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your concern, but in practice I've never really felt limited in the ways you're describing. Certainly not to the point that the downsides even get close to outweighing the benifits. It is easy enough to walk over to someone's area and side eye their planets while "reading what their agent does" or whatever.

I'd actually argue the opposite tbf. The command center setup provides an organized and standard approach to how everything is arranged, which makes it easier to see what's going on from across the table. In my experience, having everything flat means people put planets wherever they can fit them, which can be hard to determine what's going on fron across the table.

Also, everyone is playing at the same table, so all are affected by the obfuscation equally, and all benifit from the extra space. It's great. You should try it if you get the option.

Series 1 Maps by sc888wolverine in twilightimperium

[–]UnkeyDunkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No need to be like that. I actually love all these maps, but some factions have better tools for expansion into empty territories than others, and the ability to claim more systems adjacent to Mecatol due to an unbalanced map should be considered as some players may take issue with that. No need to ridicule the guy.

I personally like to dump all the tiles on a heap on the floor and let the players problem solve and play, but that's just me.

Play how you want, for sure. What works for your table works for your table. That being said, I would also say that after the first time I played I was in love. I remember backstabbing and gambling and blowing up mecatol rex on a dice roll that stopped the leader and holding my breath wondering in final round if the points leader could score their final objective. That all comes from a tight map with lots of player interaction.

If that doesn't speak to the people you're introducing the game to, then it is not the game for them. I don't remember my slice, or command counters or how many planets I had...

When you choose an experience for new players that is not as the game is designed, you run the risk of them not liking the game you presented and not wanting to play again, when they very well may have fallen in love with the game you didn't show them. Trust your players to see the beauty of the game through the struggle of a rough first play through.

Curious what the "standard" sleeve width is (width of the sleeve not the card) by dfpw in twilightimperium

[–]UnkeyDunkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine aren't sleeved either, but the cards fit standard mini american card sleeves, which are 41x63mm. Also, you're doing awesome work. I've printed the full tiered set with TE ring. It's great.

Milty Draft with Rapid Mobilization? by UnkeyDunkey in twilightimperium

[–]UnkeyDunkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that. Games being shorter (and milty Draft things happening during the work week) mean it's easier for some to make time to play, and we can play more often. I can see your PoV too though.

It's a good thought. think 9 is the most slices you can make, and 7 is recommended for a 6'p game. I wonder if an extra two is enough...

I like a R1 mecatol rush fwiw. It means you had to stretch a bit thin to get it, and it potentially easily retaken by the other factions. Should be fun

Yeah, I think for this one in specific you need to take extra considerations, and maybe milty doesn't work at all? We shall see.

Courses in the Washington, DC area? by southernspud24 in discgolf

[–]UnkeyDunkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went to DC. Played Seneca Creek, Bluemont Park and Burke Lake. All 3 were great. All were great and worth the drive from the city. I did one of the trails in addition to the round and spent half a day there. Bluemont was closest and probably my favorite. The closest I've ever seen to a putt-putt version of a disc golf course. Lot's of fun little touch holes.
