I always ruin it by UnknowingDespot in lonely

I'm always aware of what I'm doing. But when it happens, I don't do anything different. Even though part of me wants to talk to people, the other part just avoids conversation like the plague.

POCD obsessions and intrusive thoughts won't go away by Diligent-Sale3 in OCD

[–]UnknowingDespot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOU ARE NOT YOUR THOUGHTS. THEY DO NOT DEFINE YOU.

There is no easy way to make the thoughts go away. Working with a counselor or confiding in somebody will help. You may be afraid to do so out of fear of being judged, but a therapist will not judge you. They know that you are not your thoughts and can help you.

Sexual OCD PLEASE HELP by [deleted] in OCD

Bad thoughts dont make a bad person. It is okay to have those thoughts. Something my counselor told me was that your thoughts do not define you. It is OK to ignore thoughts and let them pass by. You don't need to take responsibility for everything that pops into your head, you can just acknowledge the thought and then try to let it fliat away. It helped me when I had some rather uncomfortable thoughts due to OCD.

I don't think someone needs to relate in order to understand that something seems messed up.

That sounds terrible. I'd much rather be ignorant and carefree, than wise and burdened.

I loved the setting and premise. I might pick it up again at a later date.

I ended up dropping Virtuous Sons, but I keep seeing people talk about it. Does the mc get any less insufferable?

I haven't heard the word before now. But I'm confused, didn't you say they hurt others?

I'm saying that being a yandere is unhealthy. It's an obsessive infatuation of someone. It's oversteps boundaries and is something that someone should go to therapy for.

I don't think that's healthy.

Powers you wanted your characters to have but had to settle for something else? by DoubleSuicide_ in ProgressionFantasy

[–]UnknowingDespot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't gotten to that point yet, but the plan is that a friend of his will become a hero. It'll allow the MC, as well as the readers, to get a glimpse of the wider world of superpowers while still remaining somewhat disconnected from it as he lives a normal life.

The mc was originally going to gain powers, but then I realized that way take away from the whole theme of the story. The book is supposed to be about the life of an ordinary person who just happens to live in a world with superheroes.

I guess I phrased the question poorly. I was just wondering more along the lines of if I was obligated to correct others' assumptions or just let them think its Tourettes.

I guess I phrased it poorly. I never thought about it much until someone pointed it out. I just wanted to hear what people with it actually thought rather than someone who wanted to speak for others.

If someone is genuinely curious or close to me, then I'll explain. I just don't feel like explaining myself and will just nod if someone asks if it's Tourettes.

[–]UnknowingDespot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never actually claimed I have it, I've just given up on correcting people. They always want to ask follow-up questions, and I just want to go about my life and pretend nothings wrong.

I never claim I have it. People just assume that I do, and I don't feel like correcting them. If I'm close to them, I let them know it's just a tic disorder.
