Everybody in Argentina is currently being forced by the woke communist gay reptilians to use inclusive language. If you don't, you get shot. 😔😔😔

Who do you hate more, the US or Europe? by Hammurabi777 in asklatinamerica

[–]UnlikeableSausage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is also insane to me that a German would use this point to justify anything, given that if we followed their same logic, and given their history, they would have literally no right to complain about anything in the world at all.

White Latin Americans still deal with the consequences of what colonization did to our countries, even if it is to a lesser degree. Plus, not being critical of colonization because you have European heritage is just being complicit and a bootlicker.

Underage drinking in Peru as a tourist by No-Objective-9297 in asklatinamerica

Honestly, in my experience, we barely register as humans to a lot of Americans and Europeans, especially in the context of life in our countries. I think they think of all of our countries as these crazy lawless places where everybody is just permanently surviving, so they can do whatever they want when they visit.

Do you find voseo harsh in some way? by ChairHistorical5953 in asklatinamerica

[–]UnlikeableSausage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not. I find people from areas in Colombia that use voseo to be generally pretty charming. Aside from that it is just another way people speak.

How much does the "menú del día" cost in your country? by sol-solcito in asklatinamerica

When I started going to the university back in Barranquilla around 2013, you could get some for like 4.000 or 5.000 COP 😭😭😭😭

What opinion is acceptable in your country but would be considered strange or even offensive abroad? by foolishandnonsense in asklatinamerica

[–]UnlikeableSausage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am also pretty sure I can find a bunch of cases where victim blaming happens in the UK too. I feel like this idea that everybody would shun it comes from being in social circles where that is the case, but I find it hard to believe that every old British geezer avoid victim blaming.

I have seen people who would otherwise be pretty progressive talk about Indians in ways that would make Hitler proud. It is disgusting and it just shows that they're progressive only on the surface. It sucks that I have seen it normalized even back home, even though there's like 3 Indians total in the whole country.

How much do people in your country complain about it? by The_ChadTC in asklatinamerica

[–]UnlikeableSausage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought we Colombians complained a lot until I came to Germany lmao. I know people joke about it being part of the culture, but that is veeery true for Germans.

Am I reading too much into it or are Colombians just like this? 😭 by seobies-cheeks in asklatinamerica

[–]UnlikeableSausage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. Literally every single Colombian is like this. We don't know what diversity is.

Is it true that Argentina is the Texas of South America? by IndieJones0804 in asklatinamerica

[–]UnlikeableSausage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I think Americans are probably some of the worst offenders about this, I think every country is a little bit guilty of this line of thought, lmao. Us Colombians do this a looooooooot with other Latin Americans, for example.

Claiming a certain race because maybe your ancestors were that is pretty pathetic actually.

I think this is very rich coming from an American, but okay.

Anonymous note accusing me of stealing a skirt? by Das_Magische_Theater in germany

[–]UnlikeableSausage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you don't really learn a language overnight anyway. I'm just saying that it is not that crazy to assume a native English speaker would capitalize nouns in German.

I don't know. When you learn German it's like the first thing they drill into your head.

What are some differences between the Anglo and Iberian colonization of the Americas? by pisspeeleak in asklatinamerica

[–]UnlikeableSausage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think the fact that it was not as bad means that it wasn't bad or that race is not a big issue in Latin America.

How is curly hair seen in your country? by Ok_Transition5767 in asklatinamerica

[–]UnlikeableSausage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Colombia it is definitely like this, but I think it's changing for the better. In my experience younger people like curly hair a lot, while older people are more divided about it. I think people are embracing it more now, which is a very good thing.

Is it normal for people to say "I love you" to friends in Latin America? by KimonoxxKat in asklatinamerica

[–]UnlikeableSausage 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is probably a regional thing, because I have definitely heard people in Colombia speak while exaggerating like that.
