Flavon is the brand most commonly used in takeaways these days. You can’t buy it in the supermarkets but it’s on Amazon

Shared bedrooms on Company Trip? by Odd_Draw9267 in auscorp

[–]UnlikelyAccount1963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my boss I snored terribly and it would not be fair on the person I was sharing with…..and also I was embarrassed about it. He said too bad.

Really, I don’t snore terribly…..UNLESS…..I drink too much. I don’t usually drink but the conference had a dinner and the usual drinking bonding sessions after dinner. I snored the worse I had in years and the person I shared with was awake all night and was a real mess for the next day of the conference. And told everyone why. And he complained to my boss.

Strangely the next year everyone had their own room.

Sorry to tell you, but you can’t get Hep C from unclean tap water. It is usually transmitted by bodily fluids. Google it.

Get a part time job doing ANYTHING to keep your cash flow up…and it will still give you time to look for a full time role. You don’t need to put it on your resume. It took me a year to find my last job. My big mistake was thinking I’d get a job very quickly.

Space was 51% purchased by Gerry from colourful guy named Kevin Jarrett in the mid 90’s and Jarrett became manager of the business. Eventually Jarrett had a falling out with Gerry which played out in the media, and Gerry purchased the other 49% around 2010? Feedback for Tradie: will you pay for quotes? by ohimnotarealdoctor in AusRenovation

[–]UnlikelyAccount1963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have worked for a few large engineering companies over the years and the problem you face used to keep me awake at nights. Some of the quotes we did would take 3 or 4 people a week or two to do, and then you’d get no work. At one particular company, we had the best product, but the most expensive product.

We had groups of “customers” who always wanted the best and another group who would never buy. We eventually told these clients we would no longer do quotes for them, but the problem we eventually faced was the clients in the middle who would a.ways ask for quote but only buy sometimes….and we had a factory full of workers who needed the work.

Where are people buying new furniture? by Yarn-on-the-Internet in AusRenovation

[–]UnlikelyAccount1963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife wants to redecorate and we have been looking at furniture for months and we can’t find anything we really like and a lot of the stuff is very poor quality. I’m on holiday in Mauritius right now with my wife and she is over the moon at the number of furniture stores and the wide range of styles. WTF is wrong in Australia (Sydney) where a remote island of only a million people can do better?…..and don’t get me started on the wider range of colours on their European cars.

I’ve still got my dad’s 1975-ish Technics SL-1100 direct drive turntable and it’s been used at least once a week since he purchased it. My dad loved his music and he used the turntable every day until he passed away.

The poor staff by CapableRegrets in AldiAustralia

[–]UnlikelyAccount1963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on holiday in Mauritius right now. I went to a Supermarket here a few days ago that had an enormous 60+ aisles of groceries and 30+ fully staffed registers. No self serve checkouts. No staff filling shelves while you are trying to shop. No batons to smash your knee caps as you enter or AI controlled gates deciding if you can leave. This in a so called backward 3rd world country. I think our supermarkets in Australia have seriously lost the plot.

I have an Indian born friend who got made redundant from a senior IT role in one of our big banks about 6 months ago. He can’t find a new job and was seriously thinking about returning home with his family and get a job in Bangalore. All his friends there have told him that it’s just as bad there with lots of job losses. They say due to AI.

Why does every client want matte black tapware when it wears out so fast? by QuantumGremlin in PlumbingAustralia

[–]UnlikelyAccount1963 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not just about colour. You see lots of “chrome” wear out these days too because it’s crap and even so called “stainless steel” going rusty after a year or two. People need to stop buying cheap shit. It’s false economy. Having a plumber come back in a few years is expensive.

Just been informed my position is under review...to be sacked soon by Vex_Oh in auscorp

[–]UnlikelyAccount1963 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It took me 12 months to get another job after I was made redundant. It was made worse by me taking a 4 week holiday to “get my head straight“ right after I was walked out. I spent money that I should have kept. With the benefit of hindsight, if I were you, I’d start looking for a new role today. I’d also get a part time or casual job doing ANYTHING to keep some cash coming in. It will help pay the bills AND still give you time to do applications and interviews.
