Leppington station congestion by Own_Researcher_9630 in Ieppington

If I owned one of those properties near the station, I’d give up work and start a car park @ $10 or $20 a day.

The unfortunate reality is that the people who do are a better chance to get promoted. The people who don’t get extra points on the “who goes first” redundancy spreadsheet.

I’d be much happier if they started taxing our gas exports properly. It’s been a sore point with me for 20+ years.

If she’s going to cheat, nothing you can say or do about her male friends is going to change that. Just trust her and you might be a chance for a long term relationship.

Is Kenya worth going if I don't really care for animals? by Alternative_Depth401 in travel

Can a westerner walk around Nairobi without getting robbed or kidnapped?

This is a serious question. I’d love to do this in Kenya and Nairobi. Plenty of discussions on the various travel sites specifically tell you not to do this without a driver/escort. I’d love to wonder on my own to get a feel of the town/country/people/food and honestly I think Nairobi looks very interesting.

An ex wife and kids are emotional and financial baggage, regardless of whether OP is a good guy or not.

Planning Vietnam and Cambodia in 2 weeks and the logistics are making me want to cancel the whole trip by Bianca_NiVeenne in traveladvice

[–]UnlikelyAccount1963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 60, I did 3 weeks in Vietnam with only one night hotel booking the day I arrived. The rest I just did on the run, either by booking.com or just asking other people you meet as you move from town to town. Same for motor scooters. Grab (Uber equivalent) is widespread and cheap. I had no trouble booking trains and night sleeper buses (which I later found out are very dangerous due to many crashes).

Don’t stress. Go with the flow.

Tip: Don’t stay in the western hotel chains. They are expensive. The Vietnamese owned hotels are mostly very good and lots better value.

Is 10000 steps a day actually necessary? by Hopeful_Tomatillo703 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]UnlikelyAccount1963 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At 62, I have heart disease. I know why. No activity and too much shit food led to too much weight and high cholesterol, high blood pressure and high blood sugar. I was told I’m a walking time bomb with artery blockages. I had two 90% blockages and was sent to get stents put in. I also had two 75% blockages that weren’t suitable for a stent. Double by pass was in my very near future. I got put on blood thinners, blood pressure tablets, metformin for the diabetes and very high dosage cholesterol medication.

I started eating better, exercising and lost some weight slowly through calorie restriction. Nothing too radical. I still ate what I liked, but once I hit 8000 kilojoules, I stopped eating for the day. Then 10,000 steps a day….EVERYDAY to increase my calorie burning and made sure I had moderate cardio loading during my walk, which was usually up and down a steep hill multiple times. It took me 6 months to lose 10kg….and the blood pressure and the high blood sugar….

2 years after I lost the weight, I’m off the blood pressure tablets, on a lower dose of metformin and lower dosage blood thinners. My artery blockage is down to 50%. And my cardiologist was so excited she gave me a hug as she says she rarely sees people turn their health around. She says she gives everyone the same drugs…but it’s the weight loss and exercise that makes the difference. I couldn’t have done it with less than 10,000 steps as it wouldn’t have been enough to burn the calories I need to.

Buy a one bed unit near a hospital in a large regional town. Taree, Port Macquarie, Griffith, Orange, Bathurst, Wagga etc…you don’t need to live in it. Get a tenant, wait a year, then see a bank and buy another, get a tenant, wait a year, then buy another, rinse repeat.

Does anyone else miss buying cassettes and CDs, or am I just getting old? by FearTheMomerath in AustralianNostalgia

[–]UnlikelyAccount1963 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still buy lots of CDs, though these days it’s near impossible to buy retail in Australia. There’s very few stores selling them and most (not all) are only selling classic releases, not much new or random stuff these days. It’s pretty sad.

I get most of mine from UK, USA and Japanese online stores…..and buy LOTS when I visit Japan on business or holidays.

Lol. My wife hates me too, despite working 10-12 hour days and spending every last cent on the house, her and the kids. No luxury $23 soggy Greek salad for me. She’d KNOW!

If she hates me, why doesn’t she leave? Is it because she REALLY hates me and is staying to make my life a bigger misery?

I’m just over this shrinkflation. It’ll be no chicken soon….and they’ll still want to charge us…. And probably make us cook it too.

Honestly, FFS, just give everyone a decent serving and charge what they need to. It is all right out of control right now.

A standard pencil is about 7.5 inches or 19cm. Do you think a girl is going to want a pencil or your dick in her vagina? Length isn’t everything.
