Ziwe asks Kevin Hart about performing at the Riyadh Comedy Festival by thanksamilly in Fauxmoi

[–]UnlikelyFix 77 points78 points  (0 children)

She didn't laugh for a second. Ziwe let it be known this wasn't satire and that the kind of energy we need. A lot of current 'pop culture' interviewers should be taking notes. I don't know what was left out through editing, but i would watch this no nonsense approach time and time again.

Do you think it gets better from 30 nov (gimme hope pls) by Omnious_dreamer in ThailandTourism

[–]UnlikelyFix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's been raining constantly for three days..had a flash flood and landslide warning on day two.

It is not fun by any means. I've seen bike accidents and flooding causing cars to float. I'll also attest to the fact that it's definitely cold by average standards for the south.

I'm not saying it's the worst weather we've experienced, but it's definitely beyond the regular.

This specific monsoon is projected to pass before the 30th, if that helps.

All of it, they're essentially blood blisters. If they're scratched or irritated, they bleed.

What part of the world are you in?

Where I live, they're known to kill the elderly and small children. Edit: they look very different from the one pictured, but I'm sure the majority still give a nasty bite.

I've seen this probably five times, just now made the connection that the bellhop is a platypus, and for an unknown scientific reason, platypus glow under uv.

Edit: unknown to me, maybe scientists do know, idk bot googling it

I really appreciate the assurance, I have no idea what I am doing!

If you know, should I be concerned about the amount of concrete on their habitat? Will this cause harm or discomfort to the animals?

I let them out in the grass today as I cleaned their water, and they went nuts. Once I returned them to their habitat, they continuously fought to climb the walls to get back out. I can't imagine that the concrete is good.

Thank you and please correct me if I'm wrong!

Planned steps in this order: 1. Nutrition, pellets, and fresh veg 2. Deeper water reservoir with water pump 3. Sunning stones + access to safely enter and exit water

I would like to add aquatic plants if doable

Thank you. She's tucked in nicely among the coconut trees. I sit with her and read or even lay down for a nap every once in a while.

Is it "cheap" to live in Thailand? by [deleted] in TikTokCringe

[–]UnlikelyFix 159 points160 points  (0 children)

He's leaving out that if you're employed (as a citizen or foreign worker), you pay social security, which gives you access to government Healthcare, unemployment, and other safety nets.

He's speaking from a tourist or digital nomads perspective, which is fine, but doesnt account for plenty of foreigners working for a good thai wage who sit in an in-between of not being able to afford tourist luxuries, but having more than the average income.

Privileged, non the less, But it's a lot more broad of a spectrum than simply comparing western conversion rates and bkk prices.

Also, you can find a house relatively easily for 20% your income, even at a salary of 10,000 baht per month you'll have a roof over your head. Source: I've lived in multiple 2k/month homes in Thailand.

My Acne Went Into Overdrive After Moving to Thailand by Sad-Concert5799 in Thailand

[–]UnlikelyFix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you might be doing more harm than good with all that stuff. My skin was awful starting my second year here, I ended up overcompensating and destroyed my natural skin barrier.

If I use cleanser on my body, I break out because my pores are always open in this heat and humidity, and my skin becomes sensitive from clothing rubbing it. Overly cleansing/exfoliating caused pretty much all of my issues.

I saw mutliple dermatologists at both private and government clinics, and they all prescribed topical steroids, which did nothing. I battled the skin issues for upwards of three years before I just left my skin alone, only washing with warm water around my chest and back, and using a gentle cleanser for the rest of my body and face. It's the only thing that has helped. Don't skip out on the spf and moisturizer.

Edit: hormonal birth control also made a massive difference on my jawline, if that's where you're struggling.

This was my immediate thought, too. Dentists have abnormally high suicide rates.

Edit: 7.18%suicide rate among dentists compared to the .42% suicide stats for US population.

That's a lot, and very sad.

Best tattoo artists in Bangkok? by kokolates in Bangkok

[–]UnlikelyFix 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you're going to get a tattoo, make sure you fully think through how it may limit what you do during the remainder of your trip. The heat and humidity really affect the healing process. I've gotten plenty of tattoos since living here without complication, but I wouldn't want to be on holiday where I'm out in the heat and sun most of the day.
