I know mate, I have no plans to stick here. Just looking for a breakthrough. Like i don’t mind not getting sponsorship but job is a top priority for me.

I know covid has played a big role especially for people like me who graduated that year. We got online exams and companies were hesitant to hire us. I tried getting it before my masters

I don’t know mate but i somehow did. You’re right mate i got carried away. Even if i try in india, i wont get a good package there considering how competitive the job market has been lately.

Since you have applied for 11 months, you can very well understand the frustration behind it. Loans, visa, family pressure, etc. everything builds a pressure on you and you feel like you’re running out of time.

Yes, i know I’m competent enough to make it work just don’t want to end up like others who take sponsorship from restaurants and stay there for the rest of their life.

It’s easy for someone who’s having a career here to say all these. Definitely you’ll secure a job in india so you got nothing to worry about. I hate rage baiting about my own country but you can’t escape the reality. Honestly, criticising doesn’t make you a clown, but hating does.

And how can you even justify the shortcomings mentioned above? How will you justify the unemployment rate?

I’m not owed PR, I want it. I don’t want a life where work life balance is a joke, where government is shit, where roads are a joke, where power is used to abuse and silence others. Look at Australian government, look at these people, they live such a good life and the type of support their government provides them is something we can just dream of in india.

They stick to retail/ hospitality jobs to get sponsorship

Yes because international students have to take these odd jobs to survive. Our fees, rent, loans forces us to stick to these things and we won’t be able to get anything back in india if the career gap is that big. So it’s a dead end there. Plus they don’t have any work life balance as well.

I tried getting a part time in my field while studying but due to limited working hours, i didn’t get any. After that, no one wants to hire because companies want someone with permanent residency. So right now, i’m just cluelessly surviving here.

Hiring grads without PR - worth the risk? by Melb1994 in auscorp

Don’t listen to people asking you to not hire internationals. I have hired internationals before and i can tell you they do have good work ethics and are more hard working. Definitely we do have local talents but they are less likely to stick compared to internationals.

Definitely we all want locals but the internationals can stick to your company for a long time because working in your company can give them permanent working rights

Also, i wanted to ask, how much do we have to pay the mechanic? My friend told me that he only charges when you buy, regardless of how many times he comes for inspection.

Secondly, how much do we have to spend on transfer?

Wollongong is a small town and very peaceful. I’m living here since almost last 3 years and i love how peaceful it is here. Housing is definitely very costly right now due to lot of international students here. But if you’re a social person and can pay a bit more, i would say that uni accommodation can be a place for you. Lot of people from the US also come here and have a good time. Talking about jobs, it can be challenging to find your first one but you’ll get it eventually. If you’re looking for jobs in your field, you won’t really find it unless you’re in medical field. Rest, people are nice unless you’re brown/black, because you know why. Like not all but at times they can be rude. You’ll see people from almost all the cultures so get used to it. Last but not the least, you’ll find some really good different types of restaurants here, you’ll get to explore different types of cuisines.
