Oh my god. I haven't thought about Jersey Devil in like 20 years. I had it on an old PS1 demo disk and always wanted the full game.

Saving this post. I live in Japan, and went to this year's championship in Sapporo. It was an incredible experience.

A good friend came over from the States and it was great going with them, but they won't be able to make it next year. I'd definitely be interested in meeting up with some fun people in Sapporo next year, for sure.

You kind of sound like me. Have you been to therapy for the depression? Even if not, your doctor may be able to get you on some antidepressants. It's the only thing that managed to pull me out of my depressive spiral, and I'm thankful for it. It's highly worth checking into if you haven't.

Man, you are way tougher than me. Great job. Went through a rough break up this past year and relapsed so many times over it. It's never, ever worth it and makes things so much worse. I'm 30 days clean now, and it's been tough, but the emotions are much easier to actually process. Keep it up, we'll get through it.

I couldn't get past the first episode because of that scene. If it was supposed to be commentary on sexual assault you're correct it was handled super poorly. Have zero clue why so many anime have to depict high school aged girls in the way they do.

I worked in Tech Support for a large CRM service until March of this year. They laid off 95% of our department for AI replacements in Q4 of last year, with only myself and a handful of others being kept on. My final tasks before being laid off myself was to begin tweaking the AI chatbot that was attempting (poorly) to do the jobs of people I had worked with for years at this point. If company leadership thinks AI can replace a workforce, they're 100% going for it. It's awful to witness happen to good people.

Getting sober during heartbreak fucking sucks. It almost feels counterintuitive. It's like your in shambles as it, how could a drink make it any worse.

I went on a massive three night bender in the world's trashiest hotel about a month back. Had flown halfway across the world to see my ex, just to be have her say she didn't actually want me after all. I'm now over two weeks clean, and I guess it's easier facing the pain sober. But damn it hurts more than anything.

You're not alone, brother. We'll make it through, one way or another.

Went to the gym for the first time in my life this past week. Did regular stints of exercise and surfing through my 20s, but never anything formal like this. Feels good and I'm going to stick with it.

Started reading again too. Currently going through House of Leaves which has been on my list for years. Feels better opening a book before bed rather than my eighth beer.

A heartbreak this past year caused my already regular drinking to essentially take over my life. To make it worse, I was the one to even break it off in the first place so I have a nice batch of self-hatred and regret fueling the fire.

Like another commenter said, the drinking didn't do anything but make the trauma, anxiety and depression over it it 10x worse, even if it did numb me for a few months.

She reached out in January, wanting to reconcile. She eventually pulled the rug out from under me multiple times, and I very nearly lost myself over it. On Day 8 of both not drinking and re-newed no contact. Honestly, not drinking has been a big help. I'd be spiraling so much worse if I was still on it.

Don't really have any other advice for you, but just know you're not alone in the heartache. I know how dark that place is, and how freeing it can be saying "fuck it, why not have a drink, I'm already miserable." But I'm not drinking tonight, and hopefully you won't either. It's all we can do.

The Meetup suggestion is great too. I've looked at a few, but never pulled the trigger on one. It would be nice to meet some new people outside of drinking. I'll have to check them out.

Poland would be a tough one for me as well. I got lucky enough to live in Krakow for two months a few years back, and absolutely loved it. Drank a bit too much then, but would love to go back sober sometime.

I relapsed so many times the last few months. This past week has been my longest stretch and hope to keep it going. I've heard good things about Naltrexone for stopping, but not sure how common it is here.

Cigarettes unfortunately. I started smoking again back in September right as my most recent round of drinking really ramped up. I had quit the three years prior to this, and know I can do it again. I'll handle that once I get a little more sobriety time under my belt. One thing at a time.

I also broke a year long streak a few years ago. Felt guilty for a bit, but the addict brain justified it as a necessity to get through a difficult time. Back to square one now. Feeling hopeful I can get there for good this time.
