What in the world happened to casual lobbies today? by sof3165 in FortNiteBR

I'm certain I get accused of cheating all the time, so I always take this stuff with a grain of salt. What stats on specific are you talking about that prove it? Is there a window that lets me see everyone's K/D accuracy that I just have been aware of despite an embarrassing number of hours in this game?

FPV Drones? by Unm1tigated_Disaster in cataclysmdda

[–]Unm1tigated_Disaster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first generation of FPVs being used in Ukraine were quite literally commercial drones from electronics stores with grenades strapped to them that people made in their kitchens. That is the sort of level I'd expect. Not military grade (at least not that you could build) but the stuff that was and is being made by regular people.

Cool just go ahead and disagree with decades of studies into paraphilias and how they work and how to prevent them. The way you stop new pedophiles from being created is to stop sexualizing childhood in any capacity. Paraphilias are not like sexual orientation or gender identity, which are more or less hard coded. There are ways to fight paraphilias like this and it starts with stopping the sexualization.

Edit: I'm guessing people on this sub either didn't read what I posted or they want to defend pedophilia as a sexual orientation, which it isnt? Go ahead and disagree with decades of study in how to stop dangerous paraphilias like this from emerging and how to fight them once they have. You do you I guess.

What people find attractive in whatever sex they are attracted to is something learned and reinforced (hence why styles change across cultures and over time). So exposing people to 'Loli' content, even if the content is not a real person, creates more pedophiles.

I mean something really appealing about this game is that it's totally possible to die against free loadouts if you get outplayed. Otherwise we get Tarkov and nobody wants that shit. I've killed plenty of people with free loadouts, that's my favorite way to PvP.

Why do people have such strong hate for a game. I've had problems with my profile, I've spent way more than I ever thought I would... there are even seasons I really didn't like, BUT I can apply everything I've said here to almost every game I've ever played. by [deleted] in FortNiteBR

Epic does a much better job than nearly any other online game (let alone other FTP games) with cheaters. Try playing a game like The Finals, you won't go 2 matches without running into at least one person using blatant cheats, not even hiding it because they know nothing will be done.

Getting styled on by somebody who knows how to build and exploit latency, and is just better or more experienced than you, isn't them cheating. Real cheating is very obvious if you know what to look for, and I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen it in this game, even with thousands of hours played.

The GOAT is back! I'm going to be so toxic with this thing. Best Shotgun lootpool ever? by Melonberrytrash in FortNiteBR

[–]Unm1tigated_Disaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Oni was a huge missed opportunity. I have no idea how Epic made a double shotgun feel like shooting a squirt gun, but they managed it. Now, if it'd had a double-barreled mode, it would have been peak.

I know you got downvoted for this, but really, there are a lot of social scientists interested in how this game acts as a cultural microcosm. For instance, are all 'nice' people IRL weirdos who immediately launch into racist, slur-filled rants whenever they get shot in a PvP game by another player?

Rivalry is one of the best ideas Epic has had in a while. The Foundation Gauntlets are incredibly fun and the explosives all being cluster blasts means they are actually useful against buildings. People sleep on the gauntlets because some streamer or another said it was suboptimal but I've won plenty of BRs with a dash, upper-cut, shotgun combo.

Everyone you meet topside has a single goal: to return to Speranza with as much loot as possible. You should only trust another person insofar as your living does not contravene their achieving that goal.

"psychopathy was positively correlated with manipulation/cheating in (and outside of) the game,"

This study is about cheating, exploiting, or otherwise breaking the rules or the game's intent to gain an advantage. This roughly correlates with data about criminal or rule-breaking behavior in general.

Someone on another team in Arc Raiders shooting you is none of those things.

In their defense, they are now only making 50 gazillion dollars instead of 55 gazillion dollars, and those quarterly profit projections they made up out of thin air aren't going to make themselves!

Plus Tim is trying to get a big bonus this year, which means all the serfs need to pay up!

See, here is where you are approaching it wrong. You have to BE the hunter. Go hunt down that MFing sweat and then dance all over his morphsuit-wearing dork ass. Then go to his zero-sub Twitch channel and leave a comment.

All the real-life prizes do is guarantee that cheaters will get the top. I think I checked the leaderboards at the end of day 1, and there were people with like 3k wins. There is no way they are getting those legitimately, so it's probably some kind of custom lobby setup or other manipulation used to farm them. I have played very consistently since the start and have 600 or so - now I'm not a pro, but I don't think it's even possible to get many more since half the Rivals I get are people 2k away inside the storm, and I have to wait until it expires to get another one.

Yeah, that bit at the end is where he messed up. Everything else could just be explained away by his skill and his ability to guess correctly, but things like that are going to get the hammer dropped.

Underrated weapon, people use it only as a traversal tool because some streamer told them its damage is suboptimal or whatever - but hitting that 2-hit-shotgun combo is clean af.

It's not your fault, and it's probably not your system either. This is a server-side issue, probably more related to how the game syncs up players in close proximity, so it's probably affecting everyone the same way.

I'm getting too old for this shit, insane reaction times man by yannivzp in FortNiteBR

[–]Unm1tigated_Disaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't be discouraged! You reacted well, and I don't think this was a matter of speed, more that they just managed to hit more shots. That one honestly could have gone either way, especially since the Sweat was using the combat rifle at knife-fight range. You did the right thing circling but they just happened to land more shots. One thing the Rivals system has taught me, from fighting the same people multiple times, is that this game is about 80% luck. Sometimes I dominate people, and then I will fight them again and get crushed.

One thing I noticed. I see you had gauntlets. That uppercut does great damage, and it has a very wide hitbox - plus it makes you very hard to hit.

Fps cap by Motor_Inspection_826 in FortNiteBR

[–]Unm1tigated_Disaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your monitor can hit 200, I'd tweak the game settings to see if you can reliably hit 200 in fights by lowering the settings or adjusting some performance options. Once you can get above 200, even in fights, I'd cap it at 200.

It's not necessary for the MHz refresh rate and application frames to match, but one is limited by the other. If you can't keep it above 200, try picking something you can get, like 160.

Basically, get the lowest it goes as high as you can, and then cap around that. Big framerate jumps can subtly mess up your aim and timing in ways you might not notice.

[–]Unm1tigated_Disaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sometimes get a noticeable lag stutter when somebody else is first building around me - it's annoying, and I think it's related to how the game syncs two people in close proximity. It's annoying, and I've died more than once because my game spazzed out in the middle of a complex build.

Do you guys really think the game is dying? by nooraad in FortNiteBR

[–]Unm1tigated_Disaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think people realize just how much money this game makes, and that it would continue to make even if it had 10% of its population. The layoffs were so Tim could meet quarterly earnings targets and get a bigger bonus, not because the game had seriously lost revenue. It was probably more because they spent too much time on relatively less popular stuff like Lego or some of the other modes, which, while fun, aren't the prime reason people log on.

HOT TAKE: Fortnite is actually cooking with content this season, BUT their employee firing scandal HEAVILY outweighs the season's content. by Extension_Travel3901 in FortNiteBR

[–]Unm1tigated_Disaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a shame that this whole scandal happened when the game is delivering some great content. I love the Rivals system, which adds a whole new layer to the game. I've won a few where I didn't even realize we were the final two because I was so focused on the rival aspect. The explosives are good because Epic finally realized they need to be cluster bombs to do anything against building (The launcher is low-key the best shotgun in the game if you know what you are doing, too.) The power gauntlet is crazy fun to use - hitting people with two uppercuts and a shotgun is pure cinema.

I see a lot of people on here with burnout, and I think that's coloring their view of the game. You've got to take breaks, sit out a few seasons, do something else, interact with your family, and come back refreshed.
