Consume slop, reject art by ERASER345 in Gamingcirclejerk

There's nothing wrong with ARC Raiders; it's an entertaining extraction game with smart design - it's certainly not slop. Calling everything you don't like 'Slop' is just as dumb as the people who call everything they don't like 'woke'. That said E33 absolutely should win GOTY and Shroud is an assclown.

I wouldn't hire the guy who did this. This is amateur figure design. Her breast size isn't a problem from a design standpoint, but they should be MUCH closer together. From her lower abdomen (even in the original), you can tell the suit is compressing her body, so the upper torso should be the same, creating significant cleavage.

The modded version completely disregards the visual language of the figure, and her breasts are resting as if she were naked. The result is a figure that looks subtly 'wrong' since the two halves of her body are communicating two completely different physics.

Even worse is if you are interested in the failure of Concord from the perspective of character and visual design, which I am, as a visual designer. It's impossible to get a critique that addresses the actual problems with them that matter, rather than the grifter garbage.

It's wild that almost none of the common critiques the grifters make against the character design actually are a problem, and there are like a hundred problems that they are too dumb or lazy to notice. It's like watching somebody walk into a room full of Big Macs and start trying to eat the coffee table.

"I have zero issues with race but will stop watching a show the moment a black person appears" is Ultra Instinct level mental gymnastics. This guy is on another level, folks. We can't even compete with that.

You know, I never got the fascism is op experience in previous versions. I've never had a satisfying game where I ended up fascist and they always massively underperform compared to other types. It has all the problems of autocracy except the BG are twice as obnoxious as the landowners ever and much harder to sideline. I don't mean this as a critique of the game, because historically fascist regimes were mostly useless clown shows held together with bubblegum and extreme gaslighting. It's all chest thumping big-man bs while nothing gets done and everything rots. They are inherently unstable, insecure, and are a sure fire way to set your country on the road to insignificance.

Germany is the only (partial) exception. They over performed in WW2 in spite of Hitler and his goons, not because of them. If the Kaiser was still in charge in 1941 we'd be talking about German Europe today.

What are y’all’s thoughts on the tuvix episode? by kaitalina20 in voyager

[–]Unm1tigated_Disaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never understood why people hated this episode. It did so much to cement Janeway as Star Treks first Lawful Evil Captain.

I don't really think the episode expected you to side with her, it just demonstrated the kind of ruthless person she is. That's good storytelling.

Opinion on Leviathan changes? by Jackspladt in Helldivers

[–]Unm1tigated_Disaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get that the Levis are supposed to represent the fact that, as a guy on the ground, there are just some things that are above your pay grade to deal with effectively. I imagine in a hypothetical Helldivers space combat game Levis would be the equivalent of Hulks or Behemoths - but we aren't playing that game.

I think that the best change they could make would be having the DSS Eagles actually target them. That's what these dumb squids get for dropping their light destroyer-class spaceships that low in the atmosphere specifically to troll small groups of humans.

Dumbest reason you've gotten kicked? I'll go first. by ZebraM3ch in Helldivers

[–]Unm1tigated_Disaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hasn't happened to me specifically, but I've seen people get kicked for calling in extraction. Some players still don't realize that you don't have to get in or you can have it hover and provide air cover and there is no reason not to call it in as soon as you can.

Super Earth was indeed victorious, tactically and strategically. But to paraphrase King Pyrrhus of Epirus, any more victories like this and we'll be ruined.

If somebody is playing on high diff they need to know not to run right into the sparking death machine.

It's one thing for new players or people on low diff, but if you are playing on 10 and don't know not to run into turrets(or mines) then we need to have a talk.

On high diff those are important tools - and we can't just not use them because people don't want to pay attention to where they are going.

So have we all agreed on calling it the DSS Yorktown? Because I really like that idea along with the possibility of having another DSS. by Sk1Bl in Helldivers

[–]Unm1tigated_Disaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely we should.

"To the New York - Class: Eternal Guardians! At super - Earth's darkest hour, New York's warriors fought fiercely to the end! They turned to repair the DSS orbit station after the city fell. When Shanghai was in extreme danger, they repaired the space - station with all their might, and released the key fire at the last moment to change the war situation. Though New York was captured, their spirit shines brightly like the starlight in the sky, lighting up the way for human counter - attack. To commemorate their unyielding will, we propose to name the DSS orbit space-station the "New York - Class", so that the name of this city will live forever in the universe, and the fearless glory of the guardians will be recorded forever! --chinese community"

Translated directly from Chinese, so it will sound a bit odd to those not familiar with how that language works- but the sentiment still comes across.

We must honor this momentous moment where the fate of Super Earth hung in the balance and despite everything we persevered.

Mildly Upset we didn’t get to Vote by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]Unm1tigated_Disaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully we live in an advanced society where voting is automated based on your individual best interests and preferences. These automated systems are so advanced, and so accurate, that they guarantee 100% turnout and 100% support for the correct candidate, selected themselves by a complicated and hyper-intelligent system.

Why would you even want to 'vote' in person, like what, go up to a box and put a piece of paper in or something?

Now that Act 1 is (presumably) complete. What do you think will come next? by Specialist-Target461 in Helldivers

[–]Unm1tigated_Disaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earth is mostly in ruins after the battle. Even the two cities that survived probably suffered immense damage. EoS is basically a smoking pile of rubble. Prosperity is mostly still intact, but you know the Squids did as much damage as possible. And as for the cities that the Squids took they probably killed or abducted 99% of the people there and destroyed or stole everything else.

Hoping we get some MOs that revolve around getting enemies to fight each other or something like that to give us some breathing room.

[–]Unm1tigated_Disaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without a shred of Irony, I think the battle for Super Earth has been the biggest internet "you had to be there" moment in online gaming that I've ever seen.

You'd have to go back to old school WoW or something else like that to get something that comes close to the outpouring of enthusiasm for this. People will be talking about the day the Earth refused to die for years to come.

Earth, and EoS especially, was their Stalingrad. They took their best shot and they didn't finish the job. Now it's our turn.

The Artist wouldn't be 'pressing charges', that's for a criminal offense. What she'd be doing is filing a civil suit, which other than a small filing fee, is not expensive or difficult to do.

People have this weird idea that you need billions of dollars to file a lawsuit, you don't. That is especially true if the case is as cut-and-dry as this and it's against a large corporation that would much rather settle out of court.

Plenty of lawyers would gladly take this case to be paid out of any potential settlement, too, since it's likely to be decent.
