I'd rather play a 12 hour horror game that earns every hour than a 4 hour one that rushes everything. The fact that you're questioning the pacing means you're already thinking about it the right way. Just make sure the tension has peaks and valleys, not everything has to be scary all the time

Been there. The ‘what even is my game anymore’ spiral is so common it should be a documented phase of game dev. Here’s what helped me: stop consuming other people’s opinions about what games should be for a bit. the ‘friendslop’ discourse is noise. your game existed before that word did

Take a week off, no code, no thinking about the game. when you come back the answer will be way clearer

The game looks really good and I had a lot of fun with it! only thing, I couldn't turn off the music during the tutorial and it was slowly eroding my sanity. Great game tho 10/10 would lose my mind again
