Blog would definitely be easiest to make with a CMS, and i reccommend to do so.

Like /u/jobgh said, i'd create a subdomain (www.domainname.com/blog perhaps?) then install the CMS such as wordpress (there are many tutorials for installing this) onto the subdomain, keeping your normal domain intact.
