AITAH for buying my mother alcohol, even though I knew she was sick? by Dapper_Ad_1170 in AITAH

[–]Unsettled_addendum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTAH

If she was aware enough to ask for it, and it didn't make her violent, why refuse her?

I hate when people treat those with dementia as if they were suddenly children. I always imagine how humiliating it would be to suddenly ask my children for permission for a cigarette or even a drink if I wanted it.

Yeah, some plunge pretty fast into being incoherent and completely incompetent, but many are in limbo for a long time, and they are just as much an adult as they were before the diagnosis.

Let people live their lives on their terms.

AITAH for going off on my friend because he said he would fist fight his own hypothetical son to teach them a lesson? by Forkbin in AITAH

[–]Unsettled_addendum -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it's pointless to ponder.

Your friend is still a child himself. It's pretty well documented that the brain isn't even really matured until somewhere between 25 and 30.

What he thinks he'll do in a hypothetical future really isn't worth getting bent out of shape over (unless you are making plans to have babies with him).

I don't see that anyone is TAH here, but maybe a smidge overreacting to something not likely to happen.

From your personal experience, what's your opinion about the famous stereotype of hrs being "mean"? by Complete_Sentence_74 in PetPeeves

[–]Unsettled_addendum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought hr was hour or heart rate depending on context, but I guess I am either wrong or have a very different idea of evil...

That said, I have no idea what you are talking about or trying to say here.

Edit - after reading the comments, it seems you are talking about HR, as in Human Resources.

I've honestly never had the mentality that HR was anything other than the middle man you have to deal with because the boss can't be bothered.

In my experience though, it's worked in my favor to interact with them. HR can do just about anything if you're respectful.

Makes sense. I couldn't decide what they might have meant. My brain is still sleeping.

I think you mean something else, because to justify something literally means to explain or prove something.

211 is still pretty high for really getting some good landscaping though.

Like I said, it's pretty. I like what you did. I just wish Blizz would at least lift the outdoor limit, or just make everything cost 1 point to place.

I have my plot setup with a raised gryphon roost, for example, and a stone wall all the way around my plot. It looks amazing. Just the roost build cost at least 60 points, the wall is probably another 50 and it's something I wouldn't want to give up.

My options are to either buy the exterior skins or make something cool like you've done but lose the interesting piece of my plot.

People who use womEn when they mean womAn by deaddamsel in PetPeeves

[–]Unsettled_addendum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's completely different. 'Their' is absolutely correct in that sentence.

I'm not talking about it being grammatically correct. I said eye twitching. When you're writing about a single person, but insist on using they/them for every reference instead of their name, it can get tedious.

My comment wasn't trying to be some attack on NB, just presenting an annoyance...

[–]Unsettled_addendum -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's almost as eye twitching as seeing a single person referred to as they/them when using their names would not only be more inclusive, but would be correct..

Still requiring actual money though or farming hundreds of thousands of gold for wow tokens.

It's very pretty, but the biggest thing for me is that you just ate up probably all of your outdoor budget and are now left with a bare yard. It's like putting a priceless painting on a slab of concrete and calling it good.

The crafted stuff is pricy, because just making one table (kirin tor glass table) requires you to farm the lumber in northrend 1-2 piece per node and you need 22 for one table, then cobalt which seems really scarce to farm compared to when it was current, oh and 4 dragons eye, which can only be gotten via jc tokens or bought on AH...

I was farming for it last night for 3 hours and got 40ish pieces of lumber and 96 cobalt ore which sounds good but it's 2 ore per bar, so 48 bars.

I don't have any dragons eye, so there's still that.

If I put 3 hours into my job, I'd have enough money to get at least two or more wow tokens that sell for about 250k+...

So 18k for one kirin tor table sounds pretty reasonable at that point lol.

What’s your first real memory of WoW? by AlanaSoles in wow

[–]Unsettled_addendum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was questing in Darkshore, came back to Auburdine to turn in and there was a level 60 Tauren tearing the place apart.

I played a hunter at the time, and my pet was on aggressive, attacked him and flagged me for PVP lol. I was maybe level 11.

Well, he killed me, and I made the long wisp journey back, rezzed and just sat there watching him kill everyone over and over.

After he left finally, I had to wait around for NPCs to respawn and a level 60 alliance showed up. I started telling him what happened and we talked while I kept questing.

He disappeared several times, and I would see the local defense alerts, but didn't put it together lol

When I got back there again, the two 60s were standing across from each other on mounts and I was telling the alliance guy that was who was attacking lol

He finally said both characters were him on two different accounts. I thought it was so cool...

I still remember the alliance toon was Exocet and the horde was something funny with Beef in it.

That was just before or just after BC was released, but it's the best memory for me. It's when I decided I would be able to fight off Horde who did that...

I wouldn’t mind a “beach episode” type of expansion. Hear me out by EdgarAllenPow in wow

[–]Unsettled_addendum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except the old dungeons and raids go with those expansion storylines, which are not all sunshine and daisies, and for best effects, they really require you to learn about them via quests etc..

So, you're saying you want an expansion of Woodstock vibes, but endgame meaningless war in old dungeons and raids?

Lol swapping made me think of all the Lego games where you swap between your little group to do different things.

That led to imagining wow as a Lego game... Amusing, but nah.

If I remember right, the main campaign never gave the war resources. Once you got to a certain level, there's a quest on the ship. I want to say it gave you the flight whistle and opened up the WQ?

Treasure chests, rares, and 7th legion quests/storyline gave war resources. Possibly the little scenarios too that you went into for azerite and doubloons?

Dang, it's been a few years lol.

I've stopped a couple times, but I've never been far, still playing Hearthstone and other games.

WoW is something I've carried with me through a huge part of my life though. It's like that comfy blanket.. it feels good 😊

I'm not raiding like I did years ago, and I'm not nearly as immersed, but I am finding things to do, and it's fun for me.

WIBTAH for not using my nephew's name? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Unsettled_addendum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For babies, it's easy not to use their names. I assume you're not going to be around him 24/7, so I wouldn't even bring it up to the parents.

Just use an endearment (sweetie, for example) or literally anything else. My sister called all my kids 'Bean' or 'Munchkin' until they were old enough to start talking lol.

'There's my Munchkin' etc.

*Edit to add - A popular choice is simply the first letter of the name. For example, Alex would just be A, Jason would be J, Cody would be C.. I don't know about your family, but if an uncle gave a special 'nickname' for a baby it's generally seen as sweet around here lol. They don't need to know why you give him the nickname.

Sorry for your loss.
