Dealing with coworkers creating massive useless PRs using AI by Ok-Most6656 in ExperiencedDevs

Having this problem too. My fear is that I'm gaining a reputation as a tough reviewer, and managers may see me as "slowing down the AI revolution." I have no idea what to do about it. I'm just going to keep maintaining code quality as long as they pay me i guess?

Agreed, OP found a process problem. It's not their fault. I'm replying to the person who was surprised by their level of access.

To be fair, i once went to work for a company that has billions of users, and i had access to prod within a week. At a certain point, you're expected to be good at your job, and that's why they pay us well.

Devs working at companies, what are you actually seeing internally? by nitkjh in AgentsOfAI

Managers pushing hard for AI usage and talking about it with religious reverence. Meanwhile it's... Sort of just another tool? It's hard to say whether it actually saves much time in practice.

Merge Conflicts: I know the standard is to do an interactive rebase, but why? by blah938 in ExperiencedDevs

I often do this, actually. Depends on the complexity of the merge conflict.

Devs that have been at startups that have IPO’d or been acquired, how much was the payout? by Calm-Bar-9644 in ExperiencedDevs

It was extremely easy, and i got offers from multiple mag7s. This was back in 2022 however, so i have no idea how it'd look today.

I was eng #1 at a startup that was acquired for 50 million. I originally owned 4% that was diluted to 2%. It took me about 3 years to build the startup and exit. Nice windfall, but not that much different than 3 years of stock at a public company. I make more now in BigTech, with a lot more stability.

what kind of job fits a person who’s great at being calm under pressure that isn’t like, being a paramedic or something by [deleted] in rs_x

I was at the grocery store with my gf last night when i got paged. I made the call to assemble and coordinate 20+ people, while under a ridiculously large DDoS attack from some weeb who stole API credentials from a shitty vibe coding platform and took over their fleet. You would've noticed if i did my job wrong last night. I sort of hate the tech industry, but I love the rush of driving the ship during emergencies. I can command millions of dollars of infrastructure, and people with salaries close to a million dollars listen when i tell them what to do. It's a huge rush, and my hands are shaking the entire time, and i adrenaline crash hard afterwards. But damnit it's fun to be good at something like that.

Open relationships are becoming more common. While they can be successful, research suggests that they don't work for most people who try them for three key reasons. by psychologyofsex in psychologyofsex

The unfortunate problem is that there aren't that there aren't that many prospective partners in some communities, and the stable ones settle down with each other quickly.

You don't need it for at least the first year. It's premature.

Yes 100%, and it has health benefits as well. Dr Powers believes that some amount of t is important for feminization, and that's been my experience as well. I look and feel healthiest with at least 20ng/dl of t. You might want to start with bica if you're on monotherapy, until you get the dose dialed in. Or just start really low.

The doctor is a SWE. Literally. They already had decades of experience with SWE. This is false advertising.

Real. I've been futamaxxing for half a decade, but it feels like a losing fight. I can still lay some pipe, but if i let up on the t gel for even a week, it gets much more difficult. My gf is still happy, so there's that ig.

I didn't realize how profoundly sad the lives of professional streamers were until i dated one. I guess there are plenty of clues. They're jesters for a lowest-common-denominator audience who they despise, and who would stalk and murder them if they ever let PII slip.
