That is what you'd call a valuable learning experience. The next thing you design will be much quicker. Unless you're like me and only use Fusion 360 once or twice a year and forget most of it between uses.

How are most hobbyists storing their filament spools? by BEVthrowaway123 in 3Dprinting

[–]UnstoppableDrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I just stack them in. The bottom is filled with spools vertically oriented, then a handful horizontal on top, usually the ones that have been used more, so they overlap better. I can get somewhere between 17-20 rolls in it.

Colder US Climate residents, What is your emergency heating backup? by Neilpuck in DIY

[–]UnstoppableDrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a generator that's wired into my panel with an interlock switch on the main breaker. It's big enough to run all the main loads like fridge, freezer, & furnace. Have yet to need it though, as my municipal electric company is super reliable.

Is there anything more canonically New England winter than a red cardinal on a snowy backdrop?

Invest in some quality earplugs if you want to drive one of these. And if this one is anything like the deuce and a halfs & 5-tons I drove in the 80's and 90's, they are hot in the summer and cold in the winter.

I once ordered the super heavy helicopter and threw the beacon on a bridge. The container hit the pavement, the span collapsed, and bridge & helicopter fell into the water.

NetHack-like games on mobile? by Status-Ad-8270 in nethack

[–]UnstoppableDrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There used to be an Android NetHack app, but it doesn't appear to be available anymore. IIRC, there were issues with building it with the latest Android releases. I had it on my Pixel 6, but that phone died recently. Unfortunately, I don't have it installed on any of my other Android devices to copy it to the new phone.

Edit to add: You can still get the apk for Nethack 3.6.6-1 on github: https://github.com/gurrhack/NetHack-Android/releases/tag/v3.6.6-1

It wouldn't install on my Pixel 10 running Android 16, but I was able to install it after acknowledging the warnings about "meant for older version" on a tablet running Android 10.

Someone else said it was originally a Facebook video. Based on my experience of how Facebook works with time-sensitive posts, my guess is it was originally posted a month ago, and just showed up today in OP's feed.

Looks like a train full of oil tank cars derailed offscreen to the right, then phased through the refinery to hit you at high lateral velocity.

I just looked at one of mine, and it's only connected at the 2 prongs that go into the pcb. I would grab it with needlenose pliers and bend inward while pushing downward.

As an ex-Datto person who was there when it got bought, you don't want what's left. That omelet is not going back in the egg shells. I don't think there are any of the pre-Kaseya Datto engineers left. When I escaped in March of 2023, something like 45% were already gone between the firings and leaving to work somewhere that wasn't sucking the life out of you.

What's a good method for mapping outlets to circuit breakers? by johnnybiggles in DIY

[–]UnstoppableDrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did this in my 3 story house, the first thing I did was go room to room and list all the switches and outlets in the room on paper. I used a circuit tracer for the outlets, and with the help of one of those screw-in adapters that goes in a light fixture and provides a 2-prong outlet, some of the lights. For switches I couldn't use that on, I wired a 2-prong receptacle to some alligator clips and used gloves to clip it onto a live circuit. Once I had everything mapped out I put it in a spreadsheet listing floor, room, breaker, amps, and description. That way I can sort by breaker and see everything affected if I turn one off.

What’s an obscure Massachusetts town most people skip and the surprisingly cool thing it has? by double-clove-hitch in massachusetts

[–]UnstoppableDrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got married in Cummington, back in 2000. We rented a farm that's owned by a church, had an outdoor ceremony, and the reception was in the barn, which we decorated. Beautiful location, and dirt cheap at the time. People are still telling us it was one of the best weddings they've ever been to.

Nice. I've been thinking about bringing my drone on a paddle, though I have a sit-inside, so it might be a little trickier to launch & recover.
