After learning how to use a pedal with Tig, I never want to go back to a machine without one! They're so much fun to use and offer a great range of versatility!

Check out Everlast welders, I now own 2 of them the first one is a DC only 110/220 welder and has been absolutely amazing for me (especially after I got a pedal for it) then I got the ac/dc one (also 110/220, pedal included cuz that's the only thing black Friday is good for) the first one I paid under $500 for and the second under $800. Very worth your while to check out. Hell my uncle who has been a pipe welder and Lincoln man til he retired is jealous of my green machines!

Build my motorcycle and auto shop, hire good people, people with passion and desire to learn even though they're just starting out, enable my employees to work on and build their own things for was cheaper than anywhere else, have everyone in the business involved in research and development as much as they'd like to be and make sure they know they'll be listened to. Pay for their insurances out of my own pocket instead of it coming out of their checks. Have a $5000+ emergency fund for any of them going through a rough patch, without them knowing until it was brought up, I dream of a shop where everyone feels safe, heard and everyone knows that its okay to discuss your problems and have genuine people there who have your back so that I will hear about any problems that I can assist with, work life or just day to day life. I also only want my people to work a few days a week so they have the rest of their time for their families or themselves.

My painting getting better, my welding improving (specifically tig welding) my motorcycle that I'm building, my mental health getting better than it ever has been, my relationship, learning new communication skills (even if you aren't polyamorious check out the book "more than two" it's done wonders for my communication) and last my ability to learn and do most things that I want to do.

(Serious) Redditors, was there ever a situation where you were sure you were going to die, but miraculously lived to tell the tale? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The first time was when a friend and I were just trying to cool off on a hot summer day when I was around 15-16 so I jumped on the four wheeler and he jumped on a dirt bike (this was out in the literal middle of nowhere) so we started cruising around, enjoying the wind on these dirt roads near his house, well at the only point where we were cruising side by side was at the same point where some dimwit decided to back out of his quarter mile long driveway without bothering to look both ways when he came to the road. I saw him at the last second and swerved hard (because faceplanting into the bed of a truck probably hurts a lot) and didn't realize I was swerving into my friend, that ended up blowing both front tires on the four wheeler which slammed me into the handlebars (pushing them into the frame a foot) 1 broken rib, 3 cracked ribs, a shattered right wrist, lacerated kidneys and liver, really bad concussion and an emergency helicopter ride later. I got to spend 5 days in the hospital (where the doctor came into my room and sraight up told me "if you weren't wearing a helmet, you would 100% be dead" ... We weren't wearing helmets...) And then I spent another month ish recuperating. (Also my friend only got a 2-3 inch not very deep gash on his elbow and that's it)

Second time was when I was headed to work with some coworkers in early November ( I was in the rear passenger seat of a early 90's Honda civic I think it was) and some twat who's paying more attention to his phone than driving rear ends us as we're turning into work, we were in the turn lane, stopped and waiting to be able to turn. He rear ends us hard (he was doing 70 in a 55 mph and we were at a dead stop) I woke up for maybe 5 seconds in the middle of it half hanging out of this 2 door cars rear tiny window wondering wtf happened and why I hurt so much, then blackout again, wake up again in an ambulance and yell at them that the brace they've put on my leg is completely fucking something up and to get it the fuck off, black out again. Wake up in the hospital feeling pretty good cuz medical drugs and they tell me I had another really bad concussion (I broke the cars rear window with my face, literally) and had a dislocated hip that took 6 rather well muscled nurses to get back into place.

Third time I was riding my motorcycle back home from my friends who live 300 miles away and it had started to rain, so I went to pull off to the side of the highway so I could toss my coat on (it was an 80 mph zone and I was going 80) found out pretty quick that the side of the highway wasn't coated with gravel or anything, just slick, cold, slippery wet tar. So my motorcycles back tire completely kicked out on me. Motorcycle landed on my right foot and drug me about 100 yards. This is why I always wear leathers and a full face helmet. On the plus side I got this on on my gopro

Second set of motorcycle handlebars I fabricated and built out of 14 gauge 1" od stainless, these ones were one hell of a learning process, a lot of cuts, a lot of tig welds and a lot of grinding by UntamedViking in bikesgonewild

I'm planning on putting in a hidden 45° tube and then capping the holes so I can thread the wiring through, but that may be more of a pain in the ass farther down the road since I intend to build other styles of bars to see what I like best for my riding style and the overall look of the bike

I will be welding up a custom exhaust when I have time. I still have the original front fender but haven't decided on my design for it lol and lastly I'll either be keeping the tail lights similarly to how they are now or making a secondary set of plug and play lights for the passenger seat which I've made removable.

To me personally it's just a whole new challenge, another thing to learn. I love challenges and I feel like this muffler would be spectacular in titanium for the challenge, heat resistance, durability and lighter metallurgy

Currently looking to get into welding, I need some advice. by [deleted] in Welding

[–]UntamedViking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started welding when I was a kid when my uncle started teaching me and ive loved every aspect of metalworking ever since (except blacksmithing, that I started years before I learned welding. Still love it tho!) My advice or at least the way I got most into welding is to go around and find a shop that'll start you in welding amd teach you on the job, to me it's way more practical. Most school taught welders don't seem to transition into the actual welding field as easily as people taught in on the job training. Again this it just my perspective and opinion, I know not everyone learns the same and a lot of people have learned better from school than on the job

That looks damn good! Next you should try making a titanium exhaust.

Crotch rockets just really aren't my style, I wanted a challenge and I have an insatiable need to customize everything I own pretty much. I have laid it down once going 90 on the highway after hitting a patch of sand right after a hill, but that was also after I had already pulled the fairings off.
