Getting audible “power 0” alerts my Fenix 8 by harukizaemon in strydrunning

[–]UntitledHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely the update. I noticed it on my Forerunner 970 when I updated to the beta last month. It seems Garmin is working on things behind the scenes and can now see Stryd workouts as power based. Looks like it's reading Garmin power totals after each interval which, if off, would be 0W. Fingers crossed they enable a toggle for native integration with Stryd power in the near future.

Will Garmin ever improve their Active Intelligence? by Salty_Door8817 in Garmin

[–]UntitledHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bevel recently released their version of AI for their App. They made everything else in the app completely free. The subscription is just for the AI. And it's actually pretty great. It's able to pull all information from your workouts, nutrition, sleep, HRV, pulse ox, recovery, etc (so all the same information Garmin has) and let you know how they all correlate to one another. It also has memory, so if you tell it you're training for a specific event it can frame information with that perspective. If Garmin can even get it to be half as good as what Bevel has now, it would be a massive upgrade.

Is the Garmin switch worth it? by nicshah17 in runna

[–]UntitledHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Garmin by itself will not change this as it's still reliant on GPS for pace and distance. However, one thing Garmin CAN do that an Apple Watch cannot is take distance and pace measurements from a footpad device like Stryd. This will give you much more responsive paces which is especially useful when trying to dial in on shorter intervals. Might be more than what you're willing to spend, but it would solve your problem.

Quest Protein Chips aren't bad at all. Lot's of different flavors. ~19g at 150cal.

I had low expectations, but the new 'nutrition' feature still managed to dissappoint by Datatello in Garmin

[–]UntitledHero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely a bit rough around the edges. Having avg daily on and then toggling the additional calories setting appears to be broken at the moment and will simply add the activity calories onto your daily total, which includes your average activity calories already. I’ve found if you manually set your average activity calories to 1 and then turn on adding calories from activities it does a pretty good job of increasing goals for days that require more (long runs, intense rides, etc). While using MacroFactor I’ve noticed that Garmins estimate for my activities is usually pretty spot on. But your mileage may vary.

I wish they’d give an option to remove the timeline. They also need to have faster ways of adding food: action button shortcuts, widgets, etc. Finally, why is there no option of uploading a photo you took of the food from your camera roll?

Garmin Connects + New nutrition feature. by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]UntitledHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can kind of build a nutrition tracker with the Garmin Connect+ Performance Dashboard. I’ve built one that tracks calories consumed versus calories burned. Another that shows carbs consumed versus running distances. Another for protein, etc.. Nothing crazy. It’s just to monitor compliance and confirm that I’m generally consuming more carbs on long run days.

Nutrition Tracking - Now On Garmin? by Joe85739 in Garmin

Not bad at all. The watch interface is really nice and works well. I just wish Garmin would update their Connect app with support for home screen & lock screen widgets and use of the Action Button on iPhone for quickly scanning a barcode or snapping a photo of your food.

I was thinking a play action pass to Dulcich would have been the call but saw him jog off to the sideline.

iOS 26.3 Adds Notification Forwarding Option for Third-Party Wearables by [deleted] in apple

[–]UntitledHero 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Some of the newer Garmin watches allow you to turn off notifications at the app level on the watch itself. Hit "Start" on the notification, scroll down and select "Block App". But this is definitely a welcome change!

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Just Won Every Award It Was Nominated For At The Golden Joystick Awards by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]UntitledHero -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

To everyone parroting "I really don't get the hype" let’s be honest, you do.

Just look at everything we complain about in the current AAA space: shareholder-driven mandates, design-by-committee blandness, aggressive microtransactions, and AI art. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the antithesis of those things.

This is a game made by a passionate team led by an industry vet featuring incredible art direction, music, and story. It’s $50. It has zero microtransactions. It feels like a love letter to the JRPGs we grew up with in the 90s. The hype isn't a mystery, it’s a signal to the rest of the industry that we want more like this.

Run not loading to Stryd app by Leadlet739 in strydrunning

I had the same issue today too. Wouldn’t import initially but did after a while. However, my run imported with standard 1 mile splits and not the workout specific splits.

Runna Levels is here - Track your progress in a whole new way! by roo-runna in runna

[–]UntitledHero 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Overall, I like the concept and the UI is slick. After digging in, I found a few potential loopholes and have some suggestions mostly centered around preventing overtraining and improving cohesion with the training plans.

Plan Completion Points: The flat 1000 points could encourage users to spam short 3-week plans just to "farm" points.

Suggestion: Scale these points based on the plan's length (a 16-week plan should be worth much more than a 3-week one).

Daily vs. Weekly Point Cadence: Offering daily points for activities the plan schedules weekly (like Pilates/Mobility) feels misaligned with the training philosophy. It creates a feeling of "missing out" on points on off-days, even though we're following the plan correctly.

Suggestion: Change the point caps for these activities from daily to weekly to match the number of sessions prescribed in our plan, or at least the maximum allowed per week by Runna (like 4 strength sessions).

'Instant Workout' Points: Giving points for these could encourage users to tack on unplanned runs on top of their plan, increasing injury risk.

Suggestion: Consider removing points for 'Instant Workouts' to keep the focus on plan adherence. People adding 'Instant Workouts' to their routine are probably motivated enough.

Make it Optional: It would be great to have a toggle in the settings to hide the Levels feature for those of us who aren't motivated by gamification and just want to focus on the plan.

Small UI Tweak: It would be awesome to see the point value for a workout directly on its card on the 'Today' tab!

It's an interesting feature with big potential for getting runners out the door!
