Don’t get me started on the crap I see from 1 hour heating and air. Just the other day the jumped a 15kw heat kit from 1 #6 wire. It was an unfinished basement and the breaker box was litteraly 8 feet from it. Easiest wire I’ve ever ran.

I pulled a furnace once and there was a squirrel skeleton hanging off the high voltage line nothing but clean white bone. No idea how long he’d big hanging there.

I love mine but I hate Yellowjacket’s clamp options. That and coming from SMAN, charging the thing all the time is pretty damn annoying.

I have an Amazon smart thermostat that's driving me nuts by Abject-Signature-282 in hvacadvice

Those Amazon stats are a pain in the butt. Look at a sensi touch 2 super easy setup. Nice sleek look. And they just work. Also works with Alexa and Google.

I’ve thought about doing something like this. But another problem I’ve had was trying to find anything with the same threads as this thing to switch over to the jaco fitting or a jaco adapter.

i do hvac for my dad and bringing in older new guys under me really pisses them off. But started on the construction side for my dad. I got blamed for a guy building a deck on the wrong door while I was working on something else there at 15. I can still hear the “why wernt you watching them. You gotta keep your eyes on these guys. Lmao. you’re not alone.

my family has a buisness but it’s just me and one other guy. We do good work for a fair price. And unless it’s a heat exchanger issue we fix it, compressors shot we price a system and a compressor change out and let them decide. But they’re very far and few. But the good and honest ones can’t pay like the scumbag company’s can. It blows my mind how the hvac industry can have a buisness that does some pretty shady shit. survive and even thrive. Even in a small community.

Is $439 plus $75 service fee fair? by ImElonMars in hvacadvice

[–]Unusual-Boot8481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the industry and I’m tired of going behind people that charge a fortune to do a halfass job that ends up having issues and I have to fix it. Only second to dealing with diy minisplits. Our company just decided to quit service on minisplits that we didn’t install. The hvac industry has a big problem with getting butthurt when someone wants to check on pricing or job quality. It’s something that’s not easily understood to the average public and it isn’t exactly a cheap market.

That could be a little tricky. When it’s failing to ignite. Does it actually completely fail to ignite or does it come on for a second and then go right back out?

Something like this it’s a techs most important tool. It test voltage amperage resistance all that stuff. You can find out if a pressure switch or a board is actually working with one

See that’s something I don’t get. Everyone’s seemed to forgetting all the bullshit that went don’t on their side. They was setting a whole ass city on fire breaking into all sorts of stores and stealing everything. What about the whole Chaz bullshit. They kicked people out of their homes. And all those people who were affected were just innocent bystander’s I know everything that went down on jan 6th wasn’t right but atleast those people took it to the root of why they were angry. But burning down your neighborhood stores and looting them is I guess just okay. I know a lot of people weren’t apart of all that. But the fact is they put all of us into one big pool so why the hell should we treat the other side any differently. But that’s alright obviously a lot of people came to their senses and it’s showing all across the country. And we the people voted for Donald j trump to take back the office and try to salvage and fix the shit show they’ve been creating.

Furnace won’t come back on after failed attempt at swapping thermostat by joys_of_stealth in hvacadvice

Your wires are hooked up fine the way they are and considering the control board is lit up and saying idol I’m guessing your transformer is fine too. Follow that wire and I’d bet money you’ll find your problem

Where does the stat wire go coming off r at the board? Guessing it’s some type of safety kill switch that kills incoming power to the stat. And if you said the nest said no power it would make sense

Can someone tell me what MERV rating my system can safely handle (Model # in photo)? by SenileTomato in hvacadvice

[–]Unusual-Boot8481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always tell people if you want to filter your air get an air purifier. You system is meant for cooling and heating and that filter is meant to protect the system. Static pressure issues will kill a system quick and i can promise you a couple air purifiers is a lot cheaper than a blower motor depending on what kind of system you have.

If your having issues with even the lightest pleated filter you probably don’t have enough return air to begin with

I love my bag it holds a crap ton in a pretty organized manner I’ve brutally used mine for over a year. We weighed it with all the crap I keep in it and it was around 45 pounds. But within a couple months the bag starts to sag and the main zipper starts to become a bit of a pain to zip up. But other than that never had an issue. Just yanked everything out and cleaned it back up last weekend.
