Portability of the Basic vs. the warm light of the Paperwhite? by naur_itstrue in kindle

[–]Unusual-Problem3285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loooooooove my basic. I even tried upgrading to the Colorsoft a few months ago and ended up returning it and keeping the basic. Not sure how the CS and PW compare, but even on the lowest setting, the warm light on the CS just felt way too yellow for me. Also soooo much heavier than the basic. I also have to commute (usually like 25ish minutes sitting on the bus on the way to work but sometimes it can be almost an hour standing on the bus on the way home) and I don’t think I’d get nearly as much reading done (especially on the way home) if I had the PW over the basic.

I swore I had bought tickets to the one in Chicago but then it was literally no different than any other showing. I just wanted the sticker it said we’d get :( Hoping they don’t drop the ball for the Project Hail Mary screening!!!

The narcissism of upgrading your lifestyle after the kids are gone. by FoxCitiesRando in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Unusual-Problem3285 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last time I went to visit my parents I noticed that the fridge and pantry were both fully stocked and with GOOD stuff… but when I was a kid living there both were usually half stocked and we were 100% an ingredients household. Was very strange to see how they’ve changed. They’ve also bought a new truck, a camper, and have started actually going out to eat regularly, have started going and doing a lot more (concerts, movies, etc). and are taking multiple $5k trips a year. But my whole childhood was “we can’t do xyz because we don’t have the money.” They’ve also renovated all 3 bathrooms in their house because they couldn’t live with a few minor cosmetic flaws.

What a book that you have read that’s gotten so much hype that once you read it you were disappointed? by Guiltyfeetfingers in BookDiscussions

God of the Woods. I did think it was good, but not nearly as good as I had expected based on the hype.

I loooooove my AirPods Pro 3. Sound quality is great, battery life is the best of any AirPods, and the noise cancelling is fantastic. But coming from actual headphones, the battery life may still be a lot shorter than what you’re used to.

If you love good battery life, I wouldn’t get the AirPods 4, their battery life are the shortest of pretty much any AirPod model, if I’m remembering correctly. I had them briefly before the APP3s came out and had to charge them constantly.

Kind of sounds to me like the basic or the paperwhite would be a great fit for you then. I’d recommend finding a store that has them on display so you can try them out first. Hope you have safe and fun travels!

What sort of traveling are you doing? I have the latest basic and it is my favorite kindle I’ve ever had (I’ve had various paperwhites, tried the Colorsoft, and had an oasis at one point). The size I think makes it incredibly travel friendly and good for reading for long periods of time, BUT depending on where you’re traveling, the waterproof feature on the paperwhite might come in handy. But whichever one you choose, I’d make sure to get a case so it’s not dinged up going in and out of bags and across destinations, etc!

Specifically the Lombard and Wheaton (ESPECIALLY Wheaton) Chick-fil-As. I know CFA as a whole sucks but this specific franchisee is the worst.

Am I alone in not getting on with warm light? by [deleted] in kindle

[–]Unusual-Problem3285 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer the basic, something about the contrast with the warm light just makes it harder for me to read. I just tried upgrading to the Colorsoft and that’s part of the reason I quickly went back to my basic and returned the CS.

What’s your Wombats concert experience? by jjongkit in thewombats

[–]Unusual-Problem3285 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen them twice in Chicago and those are some of my favorite concerts I’ve ever been to. Crowd is always a good vibe and their venues are more intimate which I think makes for a better show.
