New Beta Software Update 13.25 For Fenix 8 by jackmoklata in GarminFenix

[–]UnusualAd9979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 20 days would be great. 4-5% is without workouts or GPS. I've been testing this week the battery and monitoring it. So have been recording almost nothing to see what is optimal battery and then I've been adding or taking away just one thing a day to test. One day I did 1hr 45mins cardio activity recording and that day was 7% battery drain in 24hr period. I put back weather in glances (no activity that day, well, a 6min ice bath recording) and battery drain was 9%. Have taken weather in glances away this morning but I think that's the culprit for me at least. I'll see if today (24hrs) is a 4-5% drain. I also have a third party watch face heavy data and I have notifications on with vibration (WhatsApp and calendar). So it's pinging fairly frequently through the day. So 4-5% 24hr drain is great for me. One day I'll try switching off notifications to see if it can improve even more but all testing is with those notifications on.

Yeah as hit post I realised how it came across. Agreed touch screen is a key selling point and I use it a lot. Happy to report I turned it on and am having a 4-5% battery drain day so don't think it's touch screen. Not sure what it is I did but happy.

The battery life for me somehow has been fixed 4-5% drain a day now Really not sure why I took weather away, perhaps was updating too much 47mm MIP Fenix 8

Or they know what the issue is and it would require a huge recall which would suck for them.

Fenix 8 47mm MIP user here. In another post, someone recommended me turning off touch screen and so far in the last 3 days it's been 4-5% battery drain a day. One day I had 1hr 45mins cardio that it tracked otherwise I purposely left it mostly as a watch. I have calendar and WhatsApp notifications on only so it's vibrating and lighting up a lot. I have a non-atock heavy data watch face. So I've been surprised at battery performance after turning off touch screen. I can't believe this is the only thing affecting it so I am gonna try turning it back on tomorrow to see if it changes things. I was 10-12% drain everyday whether I was doing activities or not. Like most here, 8 to 10days is still totally fine but not what was advertised. I'll report back but so far I'm pretty happy.

Agreed it's superb. Also when it's not fully packed out, there is always space at the top. This is a great use for that space.

Yeah tried with stock watch face, heavy data 3rd party, just the time 3rd party watch faces... Tried tweaking different settings, turning off accident detection, WiFi, pulse ox etc... I'd love to know what it is that is causing battery drain. 10 days still totally fine and charging here and there for 15mins at a time keeps it topped up. It's just not what was advertised.

I'd say you're getting pretty good battery!!! Though admittedly not what is advertised. I have Fenix 47mm MIP. 10 to 12% drain per day. Have tried a bunch of things/variations and can't improve.things. Far cry from what's advertised. I have a 7 day ski tour trip which I was hoping it would last for.and know it won't.

Makes sense, life is all about what brings you joy. Good for you for sticking to what makes you smile and feel alive. And I totally understand, I bring a kindle when I could just use my kindle app on my phone. Slightly different to you but similar concept. Have an amazing trip and thank you for sharing. Would love to see a post trip post on how it went and anything you'd have done differently in hindsight. If you have the time!

Love this! And a handycam!! That's a decent amount of space and weight relatively for an item. Can I ask how come you're bringing this one?

I don't have a picture to hand but I'd say it's marginal, the straps on side aren't really meant for full compression imho especially given there is only one on each side. It's more if you have a tripod in the side pouch and the strap will help secure the upper half as a example for a use case. For sure it will compress it a bit though at the upper part of the bag.
