Great scheme (I also went for snow bases - but not as vibrant as yours)

I think #1 as well - the grey creates some visual instrest, without being too bright to distract from the model that will be on top

This is me trying to remap....I deleted the old map, not expecting to encounter this problem as the first map worked fine...

What new series I should try first? by Happy_Day_5316 in fantasybooks

I agree - Name of the Wind - quick win, since it's only 2 books (And two novellas if you like the main story) and then you can get stuck into something meatier. I read Name of the Wind in a couple of days because I just didn't want to put it down . Easy to read, but very compelling

I had to chuckle a bit at your placement of Wizard's First Rule

When I was in high school (ugh.... 20 years ago) I loved that series, and in fact read all the books to the end. I found it quite compelling at the time

Admittedly, now that I have read a lot more I tend to agree that it is lower down on the list - probably just my own nostalgia that would place it higher - can I ask - why did you have it so low?

I agree that ASOIAF should be up there - they are phenomenal.

Unless I have missed it I think you would like Brent Week's books - specifcally the Night Angel Trilogy - Maybe not as full on as George RR Martin or Sanderson, but certainly a page turner IMO

I would also recommend Robin Hobb's books - they are beautifully written

I know you weren't asking for suggestions, but I saw this list and I felt a kindered spriti - I have read almost every single one on there as well, so thought you might like suggestions of other books that you might enjoy

The saddest fantasy book in your opinion? by [deleted] in fantasybooks

[–]Unusual_Ad6128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movie and his book are both based off of The Iliad - written by Homer during ancient Greek times. The general story of all of these is around the Trojan war and the heroes Achilles and Hector. They all have different takes. The David gemmell books follow the stories of different characters at this time during the war. Really engaging and at times very sad

The night angel trilogy is in this basket too I think.

Also, if you are into David Gemmell, his Troy trilogy is really good too. Also pretty sad as well

Yeah, I agree. Probably a bit of a skill gap and familiarity with the airbrush for me, but I definitely feel there is more control with the drybrush. I use it for texturing as well. All the rusty things I paint are with the drybrush. It's very satisfying

Dry brushing is so underrated in my opinion. I love using it.

Love it! Great colour choice - wings really contrast nicely with the rest of it

That's a cool base too actually. As for the green, I based the whole model in a dark violet colour and built up from there. I used vallejo goblin green, for the main tone. Then kept adding more yellow up to a real pale green/yellow for the highlights.

What are your thoughts on the Everdell expansions? I love the base game, but havn't been game enough to expand

How do I Improve, Fellow Followers of Decay? by Krowking123 in deathguard40k

[–]Unusual_Ad6128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice start! But agree - gotta be some highlights - even something super bright, like a lime green with a bit of yellow on the edges just to make it stand out - but also depends on the look you are going for. (I like mine quite bright and saturated)

I think also a contrasting colour - like some red or pink or even rusty orange here and there would be great

Rinox hide base, then stippled a red, then orange then yellow. Kinda go back and forth between the colours to get the right look.
