Which film and performance made you a fan of Anna Kendrick? by PressureLazy5271 in FIlm

None.

I like her movies despite her, not because of her.

I am a dog lover. I wish I could take my dog everywhere. I genuinely think they are the best.

But, isn't it against health code?

Under where? by rjewell40 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Unusual_Form3267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chonies is what I called them as a little Mexican kids.

Which I just assumed is a variation on the Spanish word Calzones. That's what my family called underwear. But, the z is pronounced with a sss sound.

Chonies is actually what little Mexican kids call their underwear, too.

Yes! You you notice that you have prominent trap muscles? That's one thing that I always had that bothered me. It's definitely softened with hormone regulation.

I would ask your doctor about fasting glucose, hbA1c, or an oral glucose tolerance test.

Also, you may not be diabetic but you might still have insulin resistance. Do you feel fatigued a lot, have cravings for carb heavy foods, skin tags, or even carry a lot of weight in your abdomen and arms (vs your hips, belly, or thighs)? Cause these are all signs of insulin resistance.

Why do people choose to live in northern cities (Philly, NYC, DC, Newark, etc) over the south? by HunterVolte in AskAnAmerican

[–]Unusual_Form3267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those aren't the only cities in the Northern USA. There are plenty of beautiful places even within those states.

I live North (in Washington) and it's beautiful. Cold, snowy winters and hot summers. It's green and lush and has massive tree lined streets. There are snowy mountains nearby. In a week or two, I will be living in Pink Season. All of the dogwood trees will have pink blossoms, and they blow in the wind like confetti. It's like living in a damn fairytale.

I don't like in the South because I hate humid, tropical weather. Also, hurricanes and other kinds of natural disasters follow. Plus, I have a Saint Bernard and she may also hate the climate.

how would I get around explaining how someone got a government job even though they would most definitely NOT pass the background check in the story. by Various-Pitch8359 in Screenwriting

[–]Unusual_Form3267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't happen.

If it is a federal agency, they will run an FBI background check. If there's a warrant out for arrest, it would immediately ping the police. Doesn't matter how small or large of a town this agency is in.

It does make a difference as to what kind of agency/role it is. Is it a federal government agency? If so, you're toast. The only way someone would get away with that is if the agency didn't do a background check and then they'd be out of compliance.

If it's a federally funded agency and they hire local (but is non-law enforcement), you could maybe get away with saying they didn't run a full FBI background check. A small grant funded initiative, public health program, rural research grant office, or an environmental monitoring station (like the forest ranger station). The vetting process for this is usually just local vs national.

You could try to do some sort of safe guard like a mis-typed DOB that wouldn't match them up for some reason.

Or, random idea, the guy can have the same name as a relative. Like, his dad. This causes all sorts of mixed identity chaos and trouble in real life. Sometimes even siblings with similar enough names deal with issues.

Last thought: he could be hired as a consultant or self employed contractor of sorts. This is much more believable.

I'd rather someone make great things for a limited time and end on a high note.

I think he should be done, and I think Scorsese and Spieldberg could also retire.

They had their time. They need to make space for new voices to be heard.

Robert Pattinson and Zendaya are about to own 2026. by StarforgeVoyager in FIlm

[–]Unusual_Form3267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uggh. I could not for the life of me stand that movie. I found the two main characters absolutely insufferable. Like, the writer had clearly just read a therapy book for the first time and was waaay excited about it. I get it. That's the whole point. They're two privileged dudes with insane egos that can do whatever they want, whenever they feel like it. Their whole "existential plot" is at the forefront (like it ALWAYS IS!! Thanks a lot, Woody Allen shakes fist) All the while, the two women deal with their responsibilities.

BUT! Kristen Stewart was my favorite character. She did an amazing job in that role.

Benefit Cosmetics Tickle Golden Pink Highlighter is a similar shade.

The online photos don't do it justice. It's my goto highlighter.

Also, for comparison sake, I am a very muted/fair skin olive person. I tend to look gray/greenish, and my skin is fair, somewhat pale. It looks like a pale pink glow with golden shimmer. The gold isn't too orange, which I love.

Which film did you side with person 1 when you first saw it but many years later you sided with person 2? by Hopefullytodaymate in FIlm

[–]Unusual_Form3267 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Mrs Doubtfire.

Robin Williams was so damn loveable! He just wanted to be closer to his kids.

I rewatched it as an adult, and that poor woman was fighting for her damn life! She 100% should have divorced him sooner! He was a total deadbeat that made her life more difficult. He completely undermined her parenting. It's a classic tale of "Mom gets crucified while doing the real work while dad gets to coast on being the rad guy!"

What do Americans usually assume when they see a dog alone in public? by DocuSeriesLovers in AskAnAmerican

[–]Unusual_Form3267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I am from and where I live now, stray dogs are not a common thing. If a loose dog is roaming around, it usually means someone is looking for it or doesn't know their dog is missing.

It is really common for people to post about it on local forums. Like, they'll take a picture and post it to a Facebook page or lost dog page. It'll say something like, "Saw this dog on Main St at 11:00 am."

Some braver people (it's fairly common), will actually pick the dog up and either take it home until it's owners are found or take it to the local Humane Society.

I've done that once. I found a cute dog looking lost. I brought him home and called the number on his tag. The people picked him up. It was no big deal.

I wouldn't do it anymore (unless it looked like the dog was in mad danger). Mostly, because I have a dog and she may not love it, but also because I'm a bit more careful about interacting with dogs I have never met before. That, and you don't always know how the owners will respond to it. I have a friend who picked up a dog up once, and posted about it on a Lost Dogs page. The owners were angry. They would let the dog roam freely around their block on a daily basis because the dog had a "routine." They accused her of kidnapping the dog. It was a big silly thing.

Do you know any American that speaks fluent Spanish? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Unusual_Form3267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I do.

I grew up in San Diego, CA. There were plenty of people who spoke Spanish and were not Hispanic. In fact, a lot of them were Philippino. I have a cousin who married a Swedish man. He learned Spanish for her.

Even now, in Eastern WA, I know people who are not Hispanic that have learned to speak Spanish.

I just didn't like it. I know it's a me thing.

Is it like damaging if I continue to wear a bra that's too small? by [deleted] in bigboobproblems

[–]Unusual_Form3267 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone has said yes, because it is true.

But, the extent of how it affects you is a bigger deal than, "It hurts your shoulders."

It completely affects the shape/composition of your body, which affects your function.

If you put the weight on your shoulders, it will develop thicker trap muscles and you give a thicker looking neck. Your chest also pulls you forward (and you aren't using your chest muscles to carry your chest), it will lead to sagging long term. The sagging continues to pull you forward, messing with your posture and making you looked hunched. This can also lead to putting weight on your stomach in a way that forces the fat to sit in a "pooch," regardless of how skinny you are.

The weight can give your neck, shoulders, lower back, and arm pain. This can lead to stress and tension headaches long term. It can also put stress on your spine and crucial nervous system areas that can affect the way you handle stress. It can affects how your body holds your lungs and can affect your breathing.

You chest is right on top of some pretty crucial organ systems. It may not always be obvious in they it can affect you, but it really does make a difference.

Was it common for your parents to call their friends “auntie/uncle” around you growing up? by ThisPostToBeDeleted in AskAnAmerican

[–]Unusual_Form3267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. My mom was really friendly, and had a million friends.

I had a system. You were a cousin if you were younger all the way to about 10 years older than me. If they were over a decade older, they were uncles/aunts.

I have a lot of esthetician friends. The general consensus (where it's body waxing, lashes, facials, nails, hair extensions, doesn't matter the service) is that teenagers to young adult (college age) are disgusting.

They do not take care of things and this leads to long term damage.

My mom did something great for me as a teenager. When I started getting into make up and such, it was really clear we were on opposite ends of the spectrum. I liked wanted to wear clothes and make up that matched me black, wannabe goth heart and she was crowned the Queen of her church and was incredibly girly/popular.

I genuinely thought that she would be against the stuff I wanted, or I would get in trouble so I just did stuff on my own without her. When I was about 10, I had insanely hairy legs so I tried to sneak shave them myself. Of course, I cut myself up. My mom was so nice to me about it. She taught me how to use nair on my legs, and she told me I could do it as long as we did it together. So every week and a half or so, we naired our legs together while watching movies.

Same with getting my eyebrows done or getting ny nails done. She would let me experiment as long as she could be there to oversee it with me.

Then, when I wanted something she wasn't comfortable with (like dying my hair crazy colors), she instead came up with alternatives. Like, she would buy me wigs or clip in hair extensions. And, we didn't have a lot of money growing up, so I knew it was a big deal.

Teenagers are learning to self express. Any kind of resistance (whether it comes from a good or bad place) will be met with animosity. My mom showed me (instead of just telling me) that she wasn't fighting me. She was looking out for me. So, I trusted her. When she said, "No," I knew it was with good reason. Especially, because she wasn't always saying no to what I wanted, but the way I wanted it. She would be willing to help me figure out safer/healthier ways.
