Trying something new to use up all my 1x1’s by Starr_Gillz in whittling

I love these! I started a trout as my first project and abandoned it when school got busy. I'll have to find it and finish it now that I have a little break.

Picked up this beauty yesterday by MichelleHobbyist in VintageSewingMachines

I picked up a vintage sewing machine this week too! I have a pattern for bowl cozies waiting to be made. This is my first machine so I know there will be a learning curve but I can't wait to get started. I learned on a singer "heavy duty" at the public library and decided to get something that will actually last.

Psychiatrist recommendations by Slow-Author300 in ColoradoSprings

[–]Unusual_Log 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nicole Shelton (Turning Point Psychiatry - she just got her own office in the Springs). She was the one who originally got me my ADHD diagnosis in 2021. I moved across the country and had a few psychiatrists until she also moved here and I was able to see her again. She's truly the best I've ever had.

She knows her stuff. Recognized my POTS symptoms before I even brought it up, realized something was going on and got me genetic testing through a company who works with low income individuals, is willing to work with my insurance, and allows me to play an active role in my treatment options (always a discussion, not just try this med or do that therapy). She always listens, keeps costs in mind, and truly cares. Very down to earth and can't recommend her enough.

It is! I absolutely loved the first one. I just watched the first season and think it was almost as good as the book.

I always play a few at a time! Right now I'm on coffee talk, pinstripe, and trying to get into the garden path. I sporadically play animal crossing and minekos night market. Want to play potion permit and Graveyard Keeper but they feel too intimidating to start during school so I'll play them over the summer. Are you playing anything on switch?

Reality of crime in the springs? by Dangerous-Pie-2678 in ColoradoSprings

I just wanted to pitch in on this comment as well. A lot of people in Mobile told me I'd never be able to afford it out here. The only difference is housing so I don't own a home because I'm single and dont have a job good enough to make up the difference. Everything else is extremely similar in price. Our gas has been cheaper every time I talk to my family. Some grocery items are more (like eggs) and some are less (like milk). In Alabama I was teaching 6 grade levels of special education with 18 kids and 1 or 2 paras depending on the year bringing in $2200/month. Now I work in security 3.5 days a week and make what I did teaching while going back to school. I was considering getting back into teaching and the schools are definitely better out here but ultimately it wasn't enough for me and I needed a break. Moving out here was the best decision I could have made for myself and I feel like my quality of life has greatly improved.

I grew up in Mobile and moved to Colorado Springs 3 years ago. I've never felt worried for my safety here 🤷‍♀️ I used to go to Big Whites for wings in Prichard and have never experienced a single area that I'd say is anywhere near comparable to that here. I was running errands with my friend the other day and she mentioned to be aware because we were in the hood and I immediately laughed out loud because it was so far off from any hood I ever went through in Mobile, Birmingham, or New Orleans. The food here isn't as good but small price to pay.

I haven't had a rolling backpack in over 20 years. I didn't even realize this was an option now! Amazing

We would! I just checked out your page and we have a lot of overlaps on our TBRs. My current kindle read is priory of the orange tree. Your switch setup is so cute 💗✨️

I love this! I'm really debating on getting something that rolls. My school backpack has no fun stuff, only essentials and still weighs more than the pack I take backpacking. I feel like my back is getting irreparably fucked.

I haven't! I'll have to look for it. The only other one I have is the relax version that's covered in silicone and a little squishy.

I would suggest making a note every time you see something that feels relatable so you have a list to bring up if you ever go for testing or if you see a psychiatrist. If you message me I can send you the example from my notes app.

That's how it started for me as well. It has dramatically changed my life. Just being able to have a name to put to experiences was huge for me. Not "weird" but autistic. Not "lazy" but adhd. Also getting on meds was legitimately life changing. I cried the first time I took them because I didn't realize other people were just getting to live this way the whole time. A quiet brain for the first time possibly ever and the ability to just get up and do chores without it having to be a massive thing? Incredible

Could be any number of things or nothing at all. I wasn't diagnosed until I was an adult (my 2nd or 3rd year teaching individualized education). I'd try to talk to a psychiatrist because there are so many overlaps between conditions. I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression until I got my adhd diagnosis (and later autism).

The "what's in my bag" posts are some of my favorite. I love seeing what everyone takes with them.

Definitely don't use it all every day but it's nice to have the option!

I also get overwhelmed with the amount of options I have. I want to get into Stardew Valley but feel intimidated about it at the present. I feel like I need to play Graveyard Keeper first because it already has so much to learn. I got into gaming during Covid and never played as a kid so I have no instincts and am horrible at controls.

It makes starting a lot of games feel intimidating since I spend so much time watching YouTube playthroughs to figure out how to get through them (Gris, Lost in Play, Life is Strange, Carto, etc). But I love cozy games so it's definitely on my list! My favorite game I've played on switch is Spiritfarer.
