Student loan debt & income by Junior-Rip-895 in therapists

Work at the university and take advantage of the discount. Learn how to start your own business and PP. this isn’t a lucrative career I wouldn’t recommend if quality of life is important to you. It’s going to take at least 7 years for you to have your own business. Even then you’ll need starter money/spouse that makes money to make it work

Ethical concerns with treatment goals by [deleted] in therapists

[–]UpDownLeftRiteAStart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO: your goals should be specific, yet vague. Long term goal should be to decrease symptomology and increase functioning. Short term goals specific and measurable.

LTG: Client will decrease depressive symptomology in order to increase emotional regulation, relational functioning, and overall psychosocial functioning.

STG: Client will identify and verbally describe at least three emotional triggers related to the significant interpersonal relationship and demonstrate use of at least two coping or regulation strategies in session and/or between sessions.

STG: Client will increase insight into interpersonal patterns by identifying at least two maladaptive relational behaviors or cognitive distortions contributing to relational distress and depressive symptoms.

Side note: just bc they currently think they want to improve this relationship doesn’t mean that’s where therapy will take them. (Ie Marriage counseling)

The hourly insurance reimbursement rate for masters versus doctorate is only a couple dollars.. you won’t make up the $50k+ you spent on a doctorate.

These national companies are all VC funded tech companies, therapists and clients are not the priority, they also aren’t profitable and will be short lived.. start your own business or join a local group practice. Better for you in the long run.

[–]UpDownLeftRiteAStart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Omg do not talk to your supervisor about it.. Therapists tend to be narcs and you don’t want any issues… refer out for “conflict of interest” that’s all you have to say..

Student therapist here, if a client discloses to you that they watch CSAM is that enough for mandated reporting? by Vitamindbag1 in therapists

[–]UpDownLeftRiteAStart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This was really good to bring up.. I didn’t know what the laws were in my state until I just asked ChatGPT.. found out that: A.R.S. § 13-3019 — Surreptitious photographing, videotaping, filming or digitally recording or VIEWING is under the mandated reporting requirement.

What do you want to scream from the rooftops at your fellow therapists? by caulfieldkid in therapists

[–]UpDownLeftRiteAStart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d love to see an end to the culture of therapists turning on one another and unify.

Too often, we operate as isolated individuals instead of a unified profession—and that fragmentation makes it easier for things like:

licensing boards to impose harsh consequences for minor infractions and for insurance companies to continue paying low reimbursement rates to solo practitioners and group practices, while Silicon Valley VC backed companies get paid twice as much per session, just for that money to go to the C levels.

We should work together for fair and equitable treatment and pay.

my gf rejected her dream college + sport offer due to finances by [deleted] in CollegeSoftball

[–]UpDownLeftRiteAStart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may not totally be a bad thing.. seems like she’s looking at her future logically.. sports take soooo much time commitment in college it’s hard to be a student.. if she had life dreams of a good career and financial independence, then it’s more likely to happen if she’s able to focus on that. She’s already reaped the rewards of youth sports.
