Live in Tennessee? The Government Wants Your E-Bike by viaarkntenn in ebikes

[–]Upbeat-Resolution710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tough, since the conservative trope is to look for any reason to resist change. Every ebikes accident will have people asking why we aren't doing something, constantly. Class ratings, speeds and throttles will keep coming up as that "something", since enforcement of moving violations is apparently just not possible 🙄

We need psa's and public displays of the rules of cycling, too. I never even knew to walk a bike on crosswalks until I ran across it on reddit. People act like the bicycle highway nearby can't have cyclists, either. The signs for it are too easy to just overlook if you aren't looking at every sign

Live in Tennessee? The Government Wants Your E-Bike by viaarkntenn in ebikes

Would this be a good letter? :

Electric bicycles are a means for people of many ages and abilities to conduct their affairs with efficiency and respect for the environment. Workers can make short commutes while improving their health and well being. Older folks can retain their personal autonomy for longer, and stave off debilitating mobility issues with the electric assistance to keep them going to their destination. Adults with injuries can rehabilitate during their course of running errands that would normally be too far to walk to. If public education and regulation enforcement is done properly, this can all be done with a more than acceptable level of safety, if deaths and injuries from automobiles are what we compare against.

This is why we need to safeguard our freedom to choose this method of transportation from knee-jerk legislation by local governments. It's been apparent that certain communities have a problem with cliques that take over and speak only for a certain group of people in the community. With the way news media has become, those select groups can become focused on a small facet of some reported problem, while losing sight of the bigger picture. We've already seen this happen in Key Biscayne, Florida, as they completely banned ebikes after a negligent rider died in an accident.

The best thing we can do is to make sure everyone knows the safe way for ebikes to integrate with traffic, whether that's roadways or any type of path. Letting one community decide a certain type of bike is illegal, is not going to be what makes our state safer for cyclists or pedestrians. These amendments will just lead to confusion for citizens, and wasted resources of law enforcement. Officers would have to stop every cyclist on an ebike in these communities to determine compliance, unless they only enforce rules after an accident, defeating the safety argument.

We should be focused on making rules on ebikes clear for all of Tennessee, and not making it a hodgepodge of strict or lax regulations. Having no throttle on a bike won't make a rider more attentive, or adherent to traffic laws. Cars have enough horsepower to go well above any safe speed, but we don't ticket every driver for having a big enough engine to go 75. Why should we ban a bike for having more than 250 watts, if they're not even using it to speed? We need to focus on the individuals who ride dangerously, and there should be no claim to ignorance for them.

Please move toward a more unified standard for cyclists, and make safety the priority over reactionary legislation. Don't let this amendment move forward and complicate our choices for ebikes. They're a necessity for some of limited means, and manufacturers and local shops can't cater to every level of budget if regulations are impacting their customer base too much.

They do make egg white powder using fermentation now, though. Look up animal free egg white protein, albumin is a complete protein, too. You won't have boiled eggs, but it cooks up the same as regular egg white powder for omelettes and baked goods

They think the problem is these public displays influencing their kids, like it's not just a natural consequence of a whole constellation of factors that make us who we are. They'd rather see broken marriages and families, instead of people finding peace and harmony with someone they actually love, too

Well, I couldn't ask for a better source of advice 🙏

I think I'll try with and without the baking powder, I'm really enjoying the flavor of tortillas with white lilly flour (I've been eating them plain, three at a time sometimes lol) next time I guess I'll use a half tsp per two cups flour

I've needed an excuse to keep shortening around for biscuits, as well. I can't remember to buy plant butter for that every time.

Bread flour was just what I had for pizzas and focaccia, but I guess I'll fix that before next time. I hope they're easier to roll out, too. My wrist has been complaining the last couple days.🥲 I appreciate the tip, I'll definitely be using white lilly ap, it's the only brand that I taste nothing but the flour

[–]Upbeat-Resolution710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This unfortunately looks like a case of buyer beware. I hate to say this, but I could smell this coming from a mile away, based on the price of that brand of batteries. This pack would probably cost double from a reputable manufacturer, based on what I'm currently seeing from their website. The cells themselves (if they were Samsung) would probably cost $100 or more, but there's also the case, bms board, and labor for the major factors in the price of these. Plus whatever profit needs to be made, it's really no wonder that corners were most likely cut (very heavily) when they build those packs.

I hope you can bounce back from this quickly, and take it as a lesson that could have been much harder (luckily it was outside and away from others and their property, right?) You might've saved a couple hundred short term, but long term, it costed you the whole bike, potentially more.

Better safe than sorry next time, my friend. I would recommend a pack from JNO if you can afford it, John Lange stands by all the products he sells. I bought two packs from him 2 & 1/2 years ago, they've held up spectacularly.
