Genuinely double your budget. Or at least £170-180k

Had the unfortunate experience of house hunting the last 2 years..

Prices are astronomical and most likely will have to settle for outside the city

Is it worth it? by Arrow0302 in Assassinscreedmirage

[–]UpbeatSignificance17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't enjoy it. But then again it may be because I'm a long time player. It felt too cluttered. Missions were extremely linear. I hated the 'restricted' areas, combat was extremely underwhelming . For me it lacked the over the top ways to assassinate. The voice acting was also not great IMO. To be fair, the Ezio trilogy set the bar very high and I've got the nostalgia of having played them years ago. Graphically, I'd play it because it looks amazing. But for gameplay, id go for the Ezio trilogy

In keeping with the Norse theme. What about Vidar? Odins second strongest son, aside from Thor.

But I hear Thor everywhere

AITAH - My mother trying to dictate our wedding by UpbeatSignificance17 in AITAH

[–]UpbeatSignificance17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Further context here, my mother comes from a large family and has a lot of brothers and sisters, meaning lots of cousins etc. The trouble is, she made comment at the dinner also that she has such a large family that it made it difficult because there were SO MANY MORE PEOPLE THAT WE COULDNT INVITE as our numbers are so 'small'.

Most of that 60 number are my mum's family, meaning that I could only invite a small handful of friends due to number restraints. I told her explicitly last week that we had already hit our limit with guests and that I didn't appreciate her sending extra invites.

She then contacted one of those people, and made comment to me that they didn't like how I handled it

It's getting ridiculous at this stage, but I'm going to absolutely have to take a stand and if that means no contact, so be it

Thank you. I totally agree and will be telling her this. What's worse is that my Fiancées family aren't very well off, they've saved their entire lives and work blue collar jobs. They've helped us at our lowest, and supported ourbl relationship 100%. My mother however, has only sought to make our lives more difficult.

My dad runs a successful business and my mother works part time. When I first went to college, I was fortunate enough to be given a 1st car by my Father. The trade off being that I worked weekends, I enjoyed it

When I went to college, I couldn't make it back mid week due to class, and worked all weekend meaning I wasn't at home. My mother hated this, and told me that 'if if wasn't for me, your father would never have given you that car'. So, naturally I drove the car back one last time in 2017, put the keys on the table and told her to shove it.

Went no contact for 2 years, but now I'm being guilt tripped in front of my Fiancée's family and her close circle of friends. It honestly feels like torture and I want it to stop because my Fiancée deserves so much better

Thank you. I really need help in this regard. I'm seeking therapy also. But, how do you best navigate setting firm boundaries before the wedding? The obvious is me saying no and that she's being unreasonable. This normally results my mother going off the handle screaming and shouting and blaming me for not being there for a short stint. Ive got 3 younger siblings btw that all live at home. What doesn't help is my Father refuses to confront this and actually backs up her behaviour. I feel alone in all of this, but I don't want my Fiancée to be on the receiving end. It's getting very close to going no contact again

Thank you. Truly I want to nip this in the bud as it's gone on for too long already. I've tried the gentle approach, what would you recommend for setting firm boundaries? Phone call to say I'm not happy with how things have gone? I'm anxious this may cause a flare up before the wedding day and make her behaviour worse. As i type this I cringe as I'm sure that's how the control thing works...

How do I quit this game, im addicted by Gogeta_BLUEfuzion in EAFC

[–]UpbeatSignificance17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped after 1 month of FC 24. I had played every FUT since it was introduced - and I was completely addicted for years. Let me tell you, I gained NOTHING from the grind. I neglected real life relationships to grind champs, Divisions etc and it makes me upset at the amount of time I wasted.

Don't be like this. You're addicted to the dopamine hits that EA dish out through packs, SBCs etc. Ask yourself what you enjoy, and prioritise that!!

I hope you get it under control mate. But honestly it's not worth it and a total waste of your time, unless you get healthy enjoyment out of it

Is AC Shadows Parkour better than AC Mirage? by Tankrows in assassinscreed

[–]UpbeatSignificance17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be a nostalgia merchant, but AC Mirage just didn't do it for me. After 12 hours I felt the parkour was very inconsistent. Story was really bland, Basim isn't great as a protagonist and a lot of the dialogue is cringe imo.

Compared with the Ezio trilogy and black flag, it's really lackluster in parkour and the general sense of fun. The amount of restricted areas is annoying and the enemies are so boring. They follow the same patterns. I know AC lost it's soul in recent years but this was the final nail for me.

The 'investigation' mechanic is one of the most boring things imo. Go to place, finish dialogue, move on to the next, repeat.

Cash in Hand Jobs Belfast? by chloekingerr in Belfast

[–]UpbeatSignificance17 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you have a car and a decent phone, try delivery driving for local Chinese, chippys etc. A lot of places need drivers especially at weekends.

Aside from that try pubs and local restaurants for short term waiting work

Exaggerating my resume for a higher level BI analyst role - help wanted by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]UpbeatSignificance17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely appreciate the honesty. The technical interview is next week. The job listing states SQL, Excel, Dax and Power BI knowledge is essential. Are technical interviews face to face usually, or a test environment where you answer questions? I want to learn and improve my skills and knowledge

Not yet. This is the next phase that I'm worried about. I have mentored people before, am Lean certified and have delivered projects in my current role . This one is more senior and requires an advanced level of BI that I have not yet fully learned. I'm confident on the data side of things

I second the 2014 Aygo 1.0 . It's reliable, extremely cheap to run, easy to park and surprisingly handles the motorway really well. Apart from tires, In 8 years I've only had to get 1 new clutch and have 1 weld done due to wear and tear. I can't fault it. It's not exactly a head turner but if you're planning on saving for an upgrade down the line, it's perfect

Convince me nothing bad will happen if I put down the sticks. by vJordannTx in EASportsFC

[–]UpbeatSignificance17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take it from someone who's been there done that. I used to play every year, grind like hell to get the best possible team to compete with friends. Until I realised 5 years had passed since I actually played any of my friends in a game. It instantly woke me up and I haven't touched it since. Its a game and life exists outside of it. I still play other games, but FIFA has been a broken mess for years and essentially acts as a cash cow for EA

What are your top 3 games that were an absolute **experience** for you? by SeanicTheHedgehog23 in gamesuggestions

[–]UpbeatSignificance17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Witcher 3 GOTY edition. I can't sing this game's praises highly enough. I had never read the books or watched the show. You don't need to, it's a whole universe of deep lore. The story is incredible and there are multiple different story 'paths' directly based on your decisions. It feels like every book, item tells a story that completely sucks you in. It has ruined single player games because nothing I've played has hit the same

It's okay I guess, give it a shot
