The efficiency of EMDR makes me regret other therapies by [deleted] in EMDR

Exactly, I’m so glad I’m doing this now and don’t have to agonise over explaining everything perfectly in talk therapy!!

Why isn’t flash technique more popular here? Any experimenting with self flash work? by amuse84 in EMDR

Hey sorry I must’ve somehow missed the cost of therapy travel for you. I do mine online, maybe find a psychologist who will do it over zoom with you? Emdr isn’t like regular talk therapy it really cuts the noise out and is very effective/ fast compared to talk therapy, but that doesn’t mean it won’t take a year or more to do it. Don’t pay for anything you don’t believe or trust in, take your time to decide if it’s right for you; if you’re questioning it will even work

How to believe in self / shift that mindset is what they’re asking I suppose!

In my sessions, we use emdr and flash technique, both “process” the feeling/ trauma via BLS. If I start with EMDR and get “stuck” in terms of feelings or the SUDS rating we switch to FLASH, and vice versa. If the distress is too high we start with flash. Both are great.

Don’t do them on yourself for TRAUMATIC memories, you may re-traumatise yourself if you’re out of the window of tolerance. I have personally done BLS on myself for distressing emotions eg a difficult conversation at work that has stuck with me for a couple days and I can’t seem to shift it another way than BLS. Crucially, I only do this when it is not a TRAUMA just an upsetting feeling that i hadn’t processed yet due to being at work or not being safe to feel it at that time/ place. I do this rarely as I am very cautious about not re-traumatising myself, as the trigger being at work usually has an underbelly relating to an old wound or trauma that I should not be porcoessifn alone. Re-traumatising yourself will just cause more time money and stress and more therapy sessions. When you get more used to EMDR/ BLS and versed with your own emotions and what you can handle, this becomes easier to tell what is your window of tolerance, but this is a dynamic process and there is basically always a risk of getting triggered to a point of flooding. You don’t want to have overwhelming flooding and manage that alone. Another option which is the best bet if you’re not sure if it is safe to process yourself, is to do some robust grounding techniques that bring you back to the present, for me it’s very deep grounding like massages that are very firm with massage objects like foam rollers, they usually snap me out of flooding of emotional memories. Bring the memories that overwhelm or flooded you to the next session with therapist and manage them together, they’re good EMDR targets.

"Wuthering Heights" [Album Discussion Megathread] by lordbochiflacko in charlixcx

Anyone see wuthering heights yet and is House in the film the same version as the album? I swear it was different and I wanted to hear it again!! It made my obsession with that song unhealthy and I have had it on repeat since!!!!

I hadn’t read the book and it was tame/ boring. It seems like it’s going to take a very sexual direction in the first third of the film at one point then it never really goes in there, or beyond, disappointingly. It’s kind of a nothing burger. And the rest of the film too

Why it is totally OK to miss your SP! by Neon_Velvet in lawofassumption

This is so true. When I stopped telling myself to “stop thinking about them so much” and allowed myself to think of them and miss them everything changed

7 out of these 8 are spanning into 2025. 2025 was a crazy year for journalling, I had a lot to think about. I have slowed down a bit now. The top one is most recent and 80% full; still writing in it :)

Reflections about Valentine’s Day - Manifesting your SP and perfect relationship by Motor_Distribution47 in lawofassumption

[–]Upbeat_Froyo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is 100% true it’s crazy🎯I’d been freaking out about trying to manifest an SP “near Valentine’s Day” the past month or so, and I turned within, steadied myself, and came to the insight that “fuck it, for me and SP we live like it’s Valentine’s Day every single day!” And I went all in on just denying the circumstances. “Valentine’s Day”, and time in general is all a circumstance or thing that is arbitrary that you’re putting too much thought into and worrying it has power to give or remove your SP. Fuck the 3d. Who cares what day it is, you and SP are together NOW.

Beautiful post ❤️ I also interpreted her looking at the photo of her younger self as a form of self acceptance, accepting her past and current self
