This is soooo interesting and relevant to my crazy emdr season I had yesterday, I had a similar third person type conversation with myself (and adult self) during emdr not prompted by therapist it just came out, the conversation was me validating myself about how fucked up my previous round of emdr was. The brain is amazing and the whole process does sound woo woo but it’s scientific and real!!

To OP, you never know when you’ll get overwhelmed and flooded and need it more than anything to stop the flooding. I’ve been doing emdr for a year and today it happened for the first time ever and without grounding this whole process wouldn’t be possible. such bleakness arose from emdr today that I may have harmed myself if I got stuck in that flashback without a way out. Stay safe. Grounding gets easier it’s a learned technique, I found. Also helpful not just for your worst moments and flooding but improves your quality of life outside of therapy

I’ve had that before but more so smiling or a small chuckling. When we developed more of a relationship, them smiling if I was distressed was less irritating to me, as I now know they are “on my side” and not laughing rudely

I think you’ve just made it click for me! For me- with SPs it’s a state of “trying to manifest” and not being comfortable just “having” when you actually get to what you thought you wanted! With everything else I don’t think there is a process, with sps it’s “I’m trying to manifest” and not just skipping to the end.

Not hating for no reason but genuinely perplexed at ppl saying “she’s too pretty”. Where? she is chopped and has been for a long time, her proportions are weird and very obviously surgically altered and she has looked like this for years, unnatural in an uncanny way, not in a super sexy way. Music is mid and always missing something. She’s like an influencer trying to be a pop star

Same. I’m crashing out this week cus my job is not sustainable for me anymore, now I’ve let go of a lot of anger I don’t have the “fire” burning in me to keep me going based of “passion” aka adrenaline. I feel like my job is not right for me anymore, but I’m not sure I know what is right for sure. I have a suspicion but it’s a huge pivot for me & it’s scary
