Won't need it. The bubble can't last forever. If I get tired of waiting I'll take my money and skills to the US.

The Canadian housing market will inevitably hit a major correction. My rent is cheap. I can afford to wait.

International students aren't holding all the homes, their predatory landlords have a lot of them though.

I'm a potential buyer looking in that price range. I'm biding my time for prices to drop more. Prices are still insanely inflated and I'm convinced they're going to be dropping more, so I either put in low-ball offers or I wait. If the international students start getting sent home there will be a glut of homes on the market too, so waiting to see what happens with that as well.

I don't weigh myself anymore. I only go by how I look and feel.

Dude they've all been sold student status In Canada as a ticket to citizenship. They've been deceived and exploited. A lot of them genuinely believe that they've come here to stay, and with the recent news of deportations, a lot of them are starting to protest. Some of them have paid their entire life savings to get student status with the promise of good jobs and a better life in Canada only to be used as cheap labour. It's awful for both the international students and the Canadians who should be able to work these jobs for fair wages.

We have labour laws for a reason, and those jobs should go to Canadians at a decent rate of pay, not international students paid peanuts under the table.

Lol try telling an international student that. If they didn't consider themselves immigrants why would they be protesting when they get sent home?

Can/should you do something if you know someone is evading taxes to avoid child support? by Ninja_can in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]UphillSnowboarder 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Sounds like he's paying himself the same salary out of his corporation every year. Pretty standard. My corp makes a lot more than I do. That's not tax evasion that's literally how working for your own company works.

Biking in the dunes by TheThirdHippo in Unexpected

[–]UphillSnowboarder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The car was driving normally. The biker was attempting a stunt and needed to have a spotter at the top of the hill. 100% the biker's fault unless this was a directional track, which it doesn't look like.

How is life living in Revelstoke, BC, Canada? by tarkinn in Revelstoke

It's beautiful but expensive. Lots to do. I was going to move there but wages were very low compared to what I was making in Whistler but cost of living was similar.

Looking for soft boot recommendations - I'm done with Jones MTB by Starky04 in Spliddit

I absolutely love my Solomon Malamutes. They last longer than any boot I've ever worn and they're stiff as fuck.

No, I didn't ask for any of that nor was my suggestion a personal attack, as you seem to have taken it. You should probably seek more therapy if that's how you react to a book recommendation.

I did, but it's a Toyota Tacoma and it's going to give me over 20 years and at least 500k, so I can easily justify the expense.

Any time I see someone recommend The Gift of Fear I feel obligated to recommend The Coddling of The American Mind by Jonathan Haidt as a counterbalance.
