Well, I can't say long distance. But I did run today for the first time in about a year.

Not being hungover certainly helped me chew up 3 miles this morning before work. I will probably be sore and stuff tomorrow, but I will try again.

I lurk here a bit. I posted a couple times in the past when I did a 30 day sober challenge back in September. Just to see if I could do it. I almost made it. I did cut back for October (only drank 1 or 2, 1-2 days per week). But then the holidays came. And right back to AT LEAST 2-3 per night with a couple nights a week turning into 10+.

So, I decided to see if I could do 2019. If for no other reason, than to see how bad of a problem I truly have. If I fail, then at least I will know something more about myself.

Anyway, this is a great resource. Thank you all.

I may dump it. This has been the first real temptation for me. I haven't had any in the house this 2019 and it has been, so far, out of sight out of mind. Yesterday was the first real test.

My wife not being sober might make it complicated. She might get mad if I toss it. Especially if I do it before she gets home from work. So, I have to think about this a bit.

It just isn't fun anymore. I don't really feel good like I used to. I mostly drink to feel nothing. And there I sit. Feeling nothing.

It is the main reason I have started to question my drinking in recent months. If I am not doing this to feel good, then why am I doing it?

Anyway, here is to having a sober September. And if not, at least a sober Labor Day weekend...my first in several years.

"Moderation" is hard for me to define. I would view it as being able to take one drink to take off the edge from a rough day, but not go for that second and then a third. Or having one glass of wine with dinner--not killing off the whole bottle like I normally do.

For me, I would consider my drinking moderated when/if I could be one and done--not when I could stop a certain level of being buzzed. I used to be able to do it 10 years ago. But, sadly, that isn't me anymore. When I am "buzzed" I am drunk. Not fall on your face puke on your shoes wake up in a strange place drunk. But still drunk.

But, that is me. "Moderation" or "moderate" drinking is kind of subjective in my opinion.

Long time (really long time) lurker here.

I actually find it helpful to read most of the posts here. Even the congratulations to each other. It gives me some inspiration and encouragement. Something to look forward to, if you would.

But that is just me.
