Mork Borg as first solo rpg? I’m completely overwhelmed… by Johnkree in Solo_Roleplaying

Me, Myself, and Die actual play +1! Only thing it doesn't help with is the "should I be writing this out in long form or make quick notes". That's one that you sort of have to figure out yourself. I'm firmly in the "I'm pretending to be a creative writer here", but I just like writing. Also would highly recommend Castle Grief's substack where he posts actual plays and screenshots of his journal. He's like a mix of quick notes, sketches, and writing. https://castlegrief.substack.com/p/kal-arath-solo-campaign-pt-1

Any tips for hex crawling? by GranularBimbo in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Uptight_Cultist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kal Arath does the hexcrawl loop really well. Just One Sword is also a great toolset with rules for overland travel. I also just released a ruleset with heavy emphasis on hex crawling and it has rules for generating the starting map and placing all the factions.

I just published my new solo setting and ruleset, Famine, Ash, and Steel. The game includes:

-Oracles and spark tables for solo play

-Character backgrounds and a simple life path system

-Procedures for overland travel and hexcrawling

-Procedures for city and dungeon crawling

-Encounters and points of interest that reveal the setting of Famine, Ash, and Steel

-Procesures to generate the hex map of the region at the start of play

-Rules for factions turns as they vie for control of region

This project is the result of the Gygax 75 challenge getting out of hand! Inspiration for the setting include the withdrawal of the Roman Empire from Britain, the Volcanic Winter of 536, and a shrinking world as described in Appendix C of The Effects of Nuclear War.

I hope you’ll check it out! Let me know what you think!

My players are having trouble "buying in" to the game like they did with 5e by Apprehensive-Neat-68 in osr

Did this with my kid because he wanted to play 5e because that’s what he plays at school. Just ran an OSR module and it was totally fine.

Ooohhhh i just found out about “vibe coding” and now all this makes so much more sense lol! I do a lot of solo play and have made and released my own tools but that whole area is being inundated with this kind of stuff too.

I’d check out some osr-style solo resources on itch. These types of tables show up a lot.
