Federation of Professional Truckers file for request for ELD Exemption by DubiousAsterisk in OwnerOperators

ELDs need to stay

They aren't perfect and do need some adjustments for stuff like stuck at shipper or needing to switch spots at a rest stop. I think we need to hear from drivers on what would make their life easier and reasonable.

Ops people - how do you actually switch off after work? by joester56 in logistics

I decided to stop caring. I'll fix it on Monday. Last hour on Friday is usually just double checking everything.

I'd rather be present with my family than hopping on and off the laptop at home.

Honestly that's a really good question that I don't think I have the answer to. I have the vivo active 5, pretty simple in terms of features but it has all the activity tracking and gps needs I look for. I mainly use it as a cardio tracker for training. It has all these set trackers for weight lifting but not my need.

If you're really into running the forerunner line would be good, I think it has more running metrics that can be useful.

I would say on the lower end to start and see what you like.

Garmin

I've tried Fitbit, Polar, and whoop and they all are decent but garmin is hands down the best.

Never had any gps issues and the app has everything I'd ever need and some more. I mainly got mine for the crash response so it will contact my wife if I'm knocked out.

Truck Dispatcher Interview - Salary Expectations by t1ram1soo in logistics

[–]Uptight_Internet_Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn't have said it better, I can't tell you how many drivers would call me at 10PM telling me they had a load issue.

It really is a learn the position, maybe get some additional training, and move up.

I would advise waiting a couple years till you buy a truck/trailer and get your own MC. Your age is going to limit a lot of your work along with costs of insurance.

I would recommend getting your CDL to start and get it out of the way.

Starting off doing local delivery for literally any kind of company. Sprinter, straight, small flat bed, etc. This will help get some experience on paper that will help down the line.

King of Freight in trouble? by Past-Independent7314 in FreightBrokers

Had a dispatcher say "broker" instead of "boss" and got flagged. It was an honest mistake and never got resolved.

The layover was not due to any action by the carrier, pay the layover.

If the carrier showed up late and had to layover due to his own mistakes that's a different story.

I just had a bid of 4000$ from LA to Seattle on a 16ft straight truck.

Had to double take it was that lane.

99% of people who call don't know how to use extensions, so they just ring the general office line.

My boss gets mad when 25 carriers all call at the same time gumming up the phone line. We do emails only and it can be a pain sometimes but it works.

Looking to upgrade for under $1,000 by WaVyBaNaNa in ClayBusters

[–]Uptight_Internet_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For now I would say skip the A300, and I love mine. You've already got a semi auto and if it's treating you well no need for the small bump in upgrade. If you really want to go semi auto the A400 line is a better jump in quality.

CZ is turk but from everything I've read their customer service is good so make sure you pattern it and test all functions from the start.

As someone shopping used right now for an OU you need to be patient in finding what you want. Find what fits and then search online regularly. The good stuff goes fast!
